University Heights (4-8) vs. Scott County (7-3) January 8, 2000
University Heights coach Jeff Jackson faced a tough task in tonight's game. Scott County is coming off a big tournament championship run in the Fifth Third Bank Kentucky Holiday Classic. Billy Hicks has the Cardinals playing their best ball of the season and they are really tough at home.
Coach Jeff Jackson started the following lineup for tonight's contest: 6-1 Sr. Craig Keller, 6-0 So. Ravi Moss, 6-5 Sr. Matt Moore, 5-9 So. Melvin Brown, and 6-3 Jr. Wesley Bolinger. Coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-5 Sr. Scott Hundley, 6-2 Sr. Kenneth Chisley, 6-8 Jr. Nate Austin, 5-10 So. C-3 Brown, and 5-11 Sr. Casey Alsop.
University Heights utilized a sticky defense and managed to make a game
of it in the first half; only trailing 36-29 at the break.
Scott County came out on fire in the second half outscoring University
Heights 29-6 in the third quarter to close the third quarter with a commanding
65-35 lead. The Cardinals coasted in the fourth quarter on their
way to a 82-49 victory. Scott Hundley, a strong Kentucky Mr.
Basketball candidate, led the Cardinals with 26 points. University
Heights was led by Wesley Bolinger with 13 points.
