Lafayette coach Don Adkins started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. J. D. Dixon, 6-2 Jr. Robert Madison, 6-7 Jr. Vernard Hazard, 5-11 Jr. Quinton Roberts, and 6-1 Sr. Norman Lee. Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles countered with 6-2 Jr. Rod Dunham, 6-2 Sr. Daryl Carden, 6-5 So. Clay List, 5-10 Sr. Rod Cotton, and 6-0 Sr. Banks Douglass.
Lafayette survived a second half scare to defeat Henry Clay 77-67. Lafayette led at the half 34-22 and stretched the lead to 43-27 in the third quarter. Henry Clay rallied to pull within four, 48-44 at the end of the period. Henry Clay closed to within one, 50-49 before Lafayette regained control of the game.
Lafayette was led by Madison with 22 and Dixon with 20.
6-1 Jr. Nick Everman came off the bench to add 16 points.
Henry Clay was led by Carden with 24 points -- 14 of these coming
in the third quarter. Rod Cotton added 16 points.
Lafayette improved to 18-5 while Henry Clay dropped to 16-8.
