Walton-Verona (27-6) vs. Knox Central (30-4) Game 1
Walton-Verona coach Grant Brannen started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Kameron Pardee, 6-1 Sr. Trey Bonne, 6-10 Sr. Dieonte Miles, 6-0 Sr. Garrett Jones, and 6-0 Sr. Grant Grubbs. Knox Central coach Tony Patterson countered with 6-2 Sr. Jaylen Adams, 6-2 So. Jevonte Turner, 6-6 Sr. Nick Martin, 5-10 Sr. Dane Imel, and 6-0 Sr. Dalton Elliott.
Walton-Verona led 32-28 at halftime and pulled away in the second half to defeat Knox Central by a score of 76-54. Walton-Verona hit eight three point baskets and Dieonte Miles dominated in the paint to doom the scrappy Panther squad that played hard until the final whistle and finished the season with an outstanding 30-5 record.
Walton-Verona shot 58.2% from the field including eight of 21 from the three point line. The Bearcats connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 13 points off nine Knox Central turnovers. Knox Central shot 42% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc. The Panthers connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Walton-Verona turnovers.
Kameron Pardee led Walton-Verona with 24 points including two three point baskets. Pardee was 11 of 14 from the field including two of three from beyond the arc. Dieonte Miles led 19 points, five rebounds, three assists, and seven blocked shots. Trey Bonne recorded 14 points including two three point baskets and four steals. Grant Grubbs added six points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists.
Jaylen Adams led Knox Central with 19 points including three three point baskets, four assists, and three steals. Nick Martin worked fearlessly in the paint against Miles and added 17 points, four rebounds, and six assists. Martin displayed excellent court vision and provided excellent interior passing for his assists.

Trinity lived up to their lofty ranking as the veteran Shamrock squad defeated a young Johnson Central squad by a score of 70-28. Trinity shot 50% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line. The Shamrocks connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 15 Johnson Central turnovers. Johnson Central shot 26.8% from the field including three of 19 from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles connected on three of three free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Trinity turnovers.
Jamil Hardaway led Trinity with 18 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Hardaway was eight of eight from the field and two of three from the free throw stripe in only 16 minutes of play. David Johnson added 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. Stan Turnier recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.
Cory VanHoose led Johnson Central with 14 points. Jacob Rice added seven points.

Campbell County coach Aric Russell started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Reid Jolly, 6-3 Sr. Drew Wilson, 6-3 Sr. Tanner Lawrence, 5-11 Jr. Jordan Gross, and 6-1 Sr. Noah Wirth. John Hardin coach Jared McCurry countered with 6-5 Jr. Alex Matthews, 6-2 Jr. Trevon Harris, 6-9 Jr. Preston Murrell, 6-0 Sr. Jachai Walker, and 6-1 Sr. Aaron Scott.
Reid Jolly hit two free throws with less than 20 seconds remaining in the game to give Campbell County a 61-60 lead that proved to be the winning margin in the victory over John Hardin. The drama was not over as Preston Murrell hit a basket with 5.4 seconds on the clock that would have given John Hardin a lead but a time out had been granted before the shot. The Bulldogs had two late shots for the win but both missed resulting in a heart breaking loss for the second year in a row. There were seven ties and 13 lead changes in the game.
Campbell County shot 47.9% from the field including four of 10 from the three point line. The Camels connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 12 John Hardin turnovers. John Hardin shot 48.9% from the field including five of eight from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 Campbell County turnovers.
Reid Jolly led Campbell County with 30points including two three point baskets, 10 of 11 free throws, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots. Tanner Lawrence added 17 points, six rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Alex Matthews led John Hardin with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Aaron Scott added 13 points including two three point baskets. Trevon Harris recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Preston Murrell pulled down seven rebounds.

Ashland Blazer trailed by nine in the third quarter but rallied in the final quarter to defeat Owensboro by a score of 58-50. The score was tied seven times and there were three lead changes in the game. Ashland Blazer shot 48.8% from the field including nine of 17 from the free throw line. The Tomcats connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored five points off 13 Owensboro turnovers. Owensboro shot 36% from the field including three of nine from beyond the arc. The Red Devils connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Ashland Blazer turnovers.
Devauntae Robinson led Ashland Blazer with 16 points including two three point baskets, eight rebounds, and two assists. Cole Villers added 14 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Ethan Hudson recorded 12 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Justin Bradley chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets, four rebounds, and three assists.
Isaac Humphrey led Owensboro with 12 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Amari Robinson-Wales added 11 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 5-9 Sr. Darrion Wimsatt was the leading scorer for the Red Devils was limited in minutes tonight due to an injury but he added eight points including six of 10 free throws and pulled down three rebounds.

Perry County Central led by nine points with 5:50 left in regulation but failed to score a field goal for approximately four minutes and coupled with costly turnovers allowed Butler to rally for a 65-62 overtime victory. The score was tied six times and there were 15 lead changes in the game. Butler shot 39.7% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line. The Bears connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 21 Perry County Central turnovers. Perry County Central shot 66.7% from the field including six of 13 from beyond the arc. Perry County Central only attempted 33 shots from the field compared to 58 attempts for Butler. The Commodores connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Butler turnovers.
Cameron Underwood led Butler with 20 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Willard Minter added 19 points including five three point baskets and six assists. Marquis Dorsey chipped in with nine points.
Noah Caudill led Perry County Central with 21 points and seven rebounds. Noah Back added 17 points including five three point baskets, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Scott County led by 22 points 48-26 with 5:47 but had to withstand a furious rally by Covington Catholic to earn a 64-61 victory. Scott County’s primary ball handler Diablo Stewart fouled out at the 2:47 mark and Scott County leading 55-37. Scott County led 60-41 with 1;34 left in the game but Covington Catholic went on an 18-0 run to make the score 60-59 with 23 second remaining on the game. Lorenzo Williams scored on a layup to give Scott County a 62-59 lead but Grant Disken countered with two free throws to make the score 62-61. Glenn Covington connected on two free throws with two seconds remaining to give Scott County a 64-61 lead. Joseph Moser missed a three point attempt at the buzzer to allow Scott County to escape with a hard earned victory.
Scott County shot 50% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 26 of 33 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Covington Catholic turnovers. Covington Catholic shot 41.3% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 16 Scott County turnovers.
Glenn Covington led Scott County with 15 points including two three point baskets and seven of eight free throws. Diablo Stewart added 12 points including nine of 10 free throws. Bryce Long recorded 12 points including two three point baskets, and six of six free throws. Lorenzo Williams added eight points, seven rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Michael Moreno recorded six points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.
6-6 Jr. Michael Mayer led Covington Catholic with 18 points including eight of 14 free throws, 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Grant Disken added 16 points including four three point baskets and five rebounds. Tyler Fleek recorded eight points including six of seven free throws. Nick Thelen added eight points, three rebounds, and three blocked shots.

The Maroons connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 11 points off eight Lincoln County turnovers. Lincoln County shot 35.3% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc. The Patriots connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored seven points off 11 Madisonville-North Hopkins turnovers.
Kenny White had a “monster” game tonight and led Madisonville-North Hopkins with 21 points, eight rebounds, two assists, six blocked shots, and two steals. Ksuan Casey added 11 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shot. Cade Cunningham recorded nine points and three rebounds.
Star freshman Jaxon Smith led Lincoln County with 19 points, six assists, and two steals. Riley Bodner added 11 points and eight rebounds. Blake Smith recorded 10 points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.

Tayshaun Bibb added 15 points including seven of eight free throws, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. 5-11 Sr. Aiyontre Pillow recorded 13 points including three three point baskets. Kris Horn pulled down seven rebounds.

Warren Central shot 43.1% from the field including seven of 16 from the three point line. The Dragons connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 17 Madisonville-North Hopkins turnovers. Madisonville-North Hopkins shot 51.1% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc. The Maroons connected on 10 of 13 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored seven points off eight Warren Central turnovers.
Dre Boyd led Warren Central with 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Kobe Brents added 10 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Tegra Muleka recorded nine points and three assists. Tayshaun Bibb chipped in with eight points and four rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Aiyontre Pillow added seven points including four key free throws down the stretch.

Trinity coach Mike Szabo started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. David Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Jamil Hardaway, 6-4 Sr. Stan Turnier, 5-8 Sr. Kolton Rice, and 6-0 Sr. Kamari Kenemore. Campbell County coach Aric Russell started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Reid Jolly, 6-3 Sr. Drew Wilson, 6-3 Sr. Tanner Lawrence, 5-11 Jr. Jordan Gross, and 6-1 Sr. Noah Wirth.
Trinity defeated Campbell County by a score of 42-40. The score was tied four times and there were two lead changes in the game. Trinity led 15 early in the second quarter but Campbell County roared back to take a five point lead late in the third quarter. Campbell County had one last chance but Reid Jolly had his shot blocked by David Johnson to ensure the victory.
Trinity shot 37.8% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line. The Shamrocks connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 17 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 11 Campbell County turnovers. Campbell County shot 44.4% from the field including three of eight from beyond the arc. The Camels connected on five of six free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored five points off four Trinity turnovers.
David Johnson led Trinity with 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots, and three steals. 6-1 So. Ethan Hodge came up big off the bench with 11 points including four of four free throws.
Reid Jolly led Campbell County with 17 points and five rebounds. Drew Wilson added 10 points.

Scott County put together their best game of the tournament so far with a decisive 70-52 victory over a good Warren Central team. Scott County shot 46.6% from the field including five of 18 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 11 of 17 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 15 Warren Central turnovers. Warren Central shot 43.1% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc. The Dragons connected on six of six free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off four Scott County turnovers.
Michael Moreno led Scott County with 25 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists. Glenn Covington added 16 points including four three point baskets, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots, and two steals. Diablo Stewart recorded 15 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.
DAndre Boyd led Warren Central with 13 points and six rebounds. 6-6 Jr. Antonio Barbee added nine points. Kobe Brents recorded nine points and five rebounds.

Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Bryce Long. 6-0 Sr. Lorenzo Williams, 6-7 Sr. Michael Moreno, 5-9 Sr. Diablo Stewart, and 6-0 Sr. Glenn Covington. Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-5 Sr. David Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Jamil Hardaway, 6-4 Sr. Stan Turnier, 5-8 Sr. Kolton Rice, and 6-0 Sr. Kamari Kenemore.
Trinity trailed 33-29 after three quarters but rallied in the final quarter to outscore Scott County 21-7 to earn a 50-40 victory and the state championship. Scott County missed too many opportunities in the final quarter and Trinity took advantage including connecting on three of four from beyond the arc in the final quarter. There were three ties and three lead changes in the game. Coach Hicks was asked after the game if this would be his last game and he said that he was 99% sure this would be the final game. If this is a fact a true legend has left the game. Scott County raced out to an early seven point lead but Coach Szabo called a timeout to calm the troops and get the ball in the hands of star David Johnson who dominated the game tonight.
Trinity shot 42.1% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line. The Shamrocks connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled own 30 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 32.7% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on four of eight free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 10 points off seven Scott County turnovers.
David Johnson led Trinity with 22 points including five three point baskets, 12 rebounds, two assists, and four blocked shots. Stan Turnier added 17 points including two three point baskets, five of six free throws, seven rebounds, and two steals. Jamil Hardaway recorded eight points and six rebounds.
Michael Moreno led Scott County with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and two assists. Diablo Stewart added 10 points, two assists, and three steals. Glenn Covington recorded eight points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Bryce Long chipped in with six points and four rebounds.
