Bardstown vs. Cooper

 

Bardstown coach James “Boo” Brewer started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Deanta Stone, 5-11 Jr. JaRel Montgomery, 6-8 Jr. Jayden Traynor, 5-10  Jr. Terelyn Calbert, and 5-10 Sr. JT Galloway.  Cooper coach Tim Sullivan countered with 6-5 Sr. Michael Spencer, 6-4 Sr. Ty Houston, 6-6 Sr. Josh Baker, 6-0 Sr. Caleb Hampton, and 6-4 Sr. TJ Deere.

 

Cooper pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Bardstown by a score of 40-33.  The score was tied seven times and there were six lead changes in the game.  Cooper shot 44.8% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored six points off six Bardstown turnovers.  Bardstown shot 36.8% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored two points off seven Cooper turnovers.

 

Michael Spencer led Cooper with 13 points including five of eight free throws and three steals.  TJ Deere added 12 points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.  Ty Houston recorded nine points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Caleb Hampton pulled down seven rebounds.

 

JaRel Montgomery led Bardstown with 18 points including two three point baskets.  Tereylin Calbert added six points.  Jayden Traynor pulled down four rebounds, and blocked three shots.

Franklin County defeated Hancock County by a score of 90-51.  Franklin County shot 59.4% from the field including nine of 24 from the three point line.  The Flyers connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 35 points off 17 Hancock County turnovers.  Hancock County shot 41.7% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Hornets connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 10 Franklin County turnovers.

 

Zyshon Atkinson led Franklin County with 20 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Kyle Stivers added 16 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals.  6-2 Sr. Tommy Pack recorded 13 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.  5-8 Fr. Drew McGowan led University Heights with 25 points including five three point baskets and five rebounds.  Tacquan Hollowell added 18 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  KJ Crunp chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and three assists.  KyKy Tandy recorded six points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

Newport eked out a 54-51 victory over Lexington Catholic.  The score was tied three times and there were eight lead changes in the game.  Newport shot 42.3% from the field including seven of 17 from the three point line.  The Wildcats connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 50% from the field including seven of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored two points off seven Newport turnovers.

 

Makhi McGuire led Newport with 18 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and two assists.  Donnie Miller added 15 points, four rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Tahj Harding recorded 10 points and 13 rebounds.
