Thursday January 28th

 

Glasgow (Region 4) vs. Cordia (Region 14)

 

Glasgow coach James Willett started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Ben Hughes, 5-9 Sr. Karim Kimble, 6-2 Sr. James Kingery, 5-9 Jr. Jasper Mundy, and 5-9 Sr. Shelby Adams.  Cordia coach Rodrick Rhodes countered with 6-6 Sr. Zeke Biallas, 6-4 Jr. Anthony Nelson, 7-0 So. Oumar Keita, 5-10 So. Kareem McDonald, and 5-10 Sr. Ajanee Chisolm.

 

Cordia forced 23 turnovers, recorded 16 steals, and blocked four shots in a 77-46 victory over Glasgow.  Cordia shot 49.2% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Lions connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 34 points off 23 Glasgow turnovers.  Glasgow shot 35.4% from the field including four of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Scotties connected on eight of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored three points off 15 Cordia turnovers.

 

Ajanee Chisolm led Cordia with 19 points including two three point baskets, four rebounds, three assists, and five steals.  Anthony Nelson added 13 points, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Kareem McDonald recorded 12 points and four rebounds.  6-0 So. Ramon Mercado chipped in with 11 points and four steals.  6-5 Jr. Malik Henry added nine points, 14 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Oumar Keita added eight points and seven rebounds.

 

James Kingery led Glasgow with 13 points and six rebounds.  Ben Hughes added 10 points and five rebounds.

University Heights controlled the paint in a 69-34 victory over Pineville.  University Heights shot 45.5% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Blazers connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 13 Pineville turnovers.  Pineville shot 25% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Mountain Lions connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored three points off seven University Heights turnovers.

 

Dekeyvan Tandy led University Heights with 27 points, six rebounds, and three steals.  Travion Hollowell added 19 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Taquan Hollowell recorded 10 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocked shots.

 

Trent Lefevers led Pineville with eight points and four rebounds.  5-10 So. Josh Lawson also scored eight points.  Jalen Byrd added seven points and Cody Carnes pulled down eight rebounds.

Danville defeated Shawnee by a score of 75-43.  Danville shot 46.7% from the field including seven of 21 from the three point line.  The Admirals connected on 12 of 15 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 13 Shawnee turnovers.  Shawnee shot 30% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Golden Eagles connected on three of nine free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Danville turnovers.

 

Spencer McKinney led Danville with 20 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  John Roney added 15 points including three three point baskets, nine rebounds, and five assists.  6-2 Sr. Gerald Miller recorded 10 points and eight rebounds.  Jakobi Turner chipped in with 10 points.

 

Jakobe Wharton led Shawnee with 13 points and five rebounds.  Deonte Johnson added eight points.  Nick Warf recorded seven points including two three point baskets.

Newport Central Catholic raced out to a 22-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 69-48 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  NCC shot 51.1% from the field including 11 of 24 from the three point line.  The Thoroughbreds connected on 10 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 17 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 35.1% from the field including three of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 NCC turnovers.

 

Brennan Hall led a balanced Newport Central Catholic scoring attack with 19 points.  Luke Moeves added 12 points.  Ben Weyer recorded 11 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and five blocked shots.  Brian Anderson chipped in with 11 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds.  John Ludwig also scored 11 points including three three point baskets.

 

Tre King led LCA with 16 points and six rebounds.  Kyle Rode added 12 points and five rebounds.  6-5 So. Carter Hendrickson recorded nine points and seven rebounds.  Austin Hall also pulled down seven rebounds.

Morgan County defeated Mclean County by a score of 84-68.  Morgan County shot 57.8% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Cougars connected on 27 of 35 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 McLean County turnovers.  McLean County shot 44.7% from the field including six of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Cougars connected on 20 of 33 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Morgan County turnovers.

 

Jordan Perry led Morgan County with 30 points including eight of 10 free throws.  6-4 Sr. Ryan Adams added 22 points including three three point baskets and five rebounds.  Adams was seven of nine from the field including three of five from beyond the arc and five of five free throws.  Najeh Banks recorded 18 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and seven steals.  Michael Prater chipped in with nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

 

Sam Miller led McLean County with 31 points including 17 of 20 free throws and five rebounds.  Will Hudson added 10 points.  Jake Logsdon recorded six points and 11 rebounds.

Owen County outscored Kentucky Country Day 15-8 in the third quarter on their way to a 56-49 victory.  There were 10 lead changes and seven ties in this game.  Owen County shot 41.2% from the field including three of 16 from the three point line.  The Rebels connected on 11 of 18 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored six points off six Kentucky Country Day turnovers.  Kentucky Country Day shot 41.7% from the field including five of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Bearcats connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Owen County turnovers.

 

Carson Williams led Owen County with 33 points, 17 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Vince Toftness added nine points including two three point baskets.  Michael Dunaway pulled down seven rebounds.

 

JR Mathis led KCD with 22 points including three three point baskets.  Colin Ferguson added six points and nine rebounds.  Chris Roe also scored six points.

Green County defeated Shelby Valley 79-66 in a game that featured a total of 74 fouls, nine players fouling out, and 104 free throws attempted.  Green County shot 43.6% from the field including zero of three from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on 45 of 59 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Shelby Valley turnovers.  Shelby Valley shot 34.5% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Wildcats connected on 27 of 45 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Green County turnovers.

 

Dominique Compton led Green County with 48 points including 32 of 39 free throws both tournament records, 17 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Chad Emmons added 15 points and five rebounds.

 

Lamont Wright led Shelby Valley with 27 points including 13 of 18 free throws, five rebounds, and four steals.  Hunter Swindall added 12 points and Donovan Layne recorded 11 points and seven rebounds.

Anthony Nelson led Cordia with 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three blocked shots.  Ajanee Chisolm added 13 points including eight of eight free throws and four rebounds.  6-0 So. Ramon Mercado chipped in with eight points and four rebounds.  Oumar Keita recorded six points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.  6-5 Jr. Malik Henry added six points and six rebounds.

Ben Weyer led Newport Central Catholic with 38 points, 22 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  The 22 rebounds tied a tourney record held by Lamont Barnes (University Heights) in 1995.  Luke Moeves added eight points and five rebounds.

 

Spencer McKinney led Danville with 19 points including three three point baskets and eight rebounds.  Jared Southerland added seven points and eight rebounds.

Carson Williams led Owen County with 29 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Williams was 11 of 15 from the field including one for one from beyond the arc and six of eight from the free throw line.  Vince Toftness added 14 points.  Michael Dunaway recorded 10 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

 

Jordan Perry led Morgan County with 37 points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Najeh Banks added 13 points and three assists.  Michael Prater recorded five points and seven rebounds.

Anthony Nelson led Cordia with 16 points and five assists.  6-0 So. Ramon Mercado added nine points including two three point baskets.  Ajanee Chisolm chipped in with eight points and three steals.  Zeke Biallas recorded five points and eight rebounds.  6-5 Jr. Malik Henry added four points and seven rebounds.

 

Ben Weyer led Newport Central Catholic with 21 points including nine of 13 free throws, seven rebounds, and six blocked shots.  Brennan Hall added 14 points.  Brian Anderson recorded five points and eight rebounds.

Murray controlled the ball for the last 2:30 and James Boone hit a three point basket at the horn to give the Tigers a 47-44 victory over Owen County.  There were four lead changes and three ties in this game.  Murray shot 51.3% from the field including five of eight from the three point line.  The Tigers connected on two of four free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Owen County turnovers.  Owen County shot 42.9% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Rebels connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 15 Murray turnovers.

 

James Boone led Murray with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Ethan Clark added 12 points including two three point baskets.  Preston English recorded eight points including two three point baskets and six rebounds.  Duane Curtis also scored eight points.

 

Carson Williams led Owen County with 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, six blocked shots, and four steals.  Vince Toftness added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Michael Dunaway recorded eight points and five rebounds.

Cordia pulled away late to defeat Murray by a score of 62-45.  The score was tied four times and there were five lead changes in the game.  Cordia shot 45.5% from the field including six of 17 from the three point line.  The Lions connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored eight points off seven Murray turnovers.  Murray shot 25% from the field including three of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored eight points off 11 Cordia turnovers.

 

Anthony Nelson led Cordia with 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, and three blocked shots.  6-0 So. Ramon Mercado added 12 points and six rebounds.  Kareem McDonald recorded 11 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and three assists.  Zeke Biallas chipped in with six points and six rebounds.  Oumar Keita pulled down eight rebounds and 6-5 Jr. Malik Henry added nine points and three blocked shots.

 

James Boone led Murray with 12 points and 11 rebounds.  Preston English added 11 points including two three point baskets.  Tre Hornbuckle added eight points. 5-8 So.
