North Hardin vs. Ballard

 

North Hardin coach Mike Cofer started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Tony Jackson, 6-2 Sr. Andre Harris, 6-3 Sr. Brandon Maxwell, 6-1 Sr. Kamrin Boone, and 6-2 Sr. Will Alexander.  Ballard coach Chris Renner countered with 6-3 Sr. Jake Ramsey, 5-10 Jr. Antoine Darby, 6-3 Sr. Omardrick Douglas, 5-9 Jr. Jamil Wilson, and 5-9 Sr. Brian Alvey.

 

Ballard led 21-15 at halftime but North Hardin rallied and won the game at the buzzer 49-47 at the buzzer on a shot in the lane by Tony Jackson.  This game stayed close the entire way and had seven ties and seven lead changes.  North Hardin shot 38.1% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Trojans connected on 15 of 31 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored eight points off 12 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 26.2% from the field including four of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Bruins connected on 11 of 22 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 16 North Hardin turnovers.

 

Tony Jackson led North Hardin with 24 points, 19 rebounds, five blocked shots, and three steals.  Brandon Maxwell added 10 points and five rebounds.

 

Jamil Wilson led Ballard with 13 points.  Brian Alvey added 10 points and five rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Clivonte Patterson recorded six points and six rebounds.

Dunbar raced out to a 43-17 halftime lead on their way to an 89-58 victory over Fairdale.  Dunbar shot 59.7% from the field including one of four from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 14 of 26 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 39 points off 24 Fairdale turnovers.  Fairdale shot 36.5% from the field including seven of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Bulldogs connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Dunbar turnovers.

 

Darius Williams led Dunbar with 33 points.  Taveion Hollingsworth added 16 points and seven rebounds.  Jordan Lewis recorded 15 points, four assists, and five steals.  Justin Kelley chipped in with eight points and six rebounds.

 

Glenn Queen led Fairdale with 22 points including three three point baskets.  Tre Richardson and 6-0 So. Markelo Sullivan each scored 11 points.

Owen County vs. Trinity

 

Owen County coach Devin Duvall started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Carson Williams, 6-1 Sr. Blaine Forsee, 6-5 Sr. Michael Dunaway, 5-11 Sr. Chad McDonald, and 6-1 Sr. Vince Toftness.  Trinity coach Mike Szabo countered with 6-2 Jr. LJ Harris, 6-1 Sr. Gabe Schmitt, 6-2 Jr. David Burton, 5-9 Jr. Jacob King, and 6-0 Jr. Lukas Burkman.

 

Trinity rallied from a 43-30 deficit in the third quarter to defeat Owen County by a score of 63-56.  The score was 43-30 with 4:58 remaining in the third quarter but Trinity went on a 20-0 run to take a 50-43 lead.  Owen County cut the deficit to one; 53-52 but Gabe Schmitt scored 10 points in the final 1:25 of play to ensure the victory for Trinity.  Schmitt was eight of eight from the free throw line during this stretch. 

 

Trinity shot 39.6% from the field including two of 18 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on 19 of 24 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Owen County turnovers.  Owen County shot 51.1% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Rebels connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored seven points off five Trinity turnovers.

 

Gabe Schmitt led Trinity with 19 points including 10 of 10 free throws.  Jacob King added 18 points.  LJ Harris recorded 12 points and five rebounds.

 

Carson Williams led Owen County with 24 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists.  Blaine Forsee added 10 points and Chad McDonald chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets.  Michael Dunaway recorded six points and nine rebounds.

Anthony Wales led Fern Creek with 21 points including eight of nine free throws.  6-6 Jr. DaiQuan Jones added 11 points and five rebounds.  Tony Washington chipped in with 10 points.

 

Terry Taylor led Bowling Green with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Perry Ayers added 11 points and five rebounds.  Deangelo Wilson chipped in with 10 points and three steals.  Kyran Jones recorded nine points and nine rebounds.

Brentwood Academy defeated Gainesville by a score of 69-60.  Brentwood Academy shot 56.5% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on nine of 21 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 22 Gainesville turnovers.  Gainesville shot 47.2% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Red Elephants connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 12 Brentwood Academy turnovers.

 

Darius Garland led Brentwood Academy with 24 points including five three point baskets.  Parker Suedekum added 17 points including three three point baskets and four steals.

Tyler Sharpe led Bullitt East with 21 points including 13 of 15 free throws, seven rebounds, and three steals.  Bailey Rakes added 15 points including three three point baskets.  Brandon Klefot recorded 13 points and five rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Konnor Polson chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Central trailed 58-53 after three quarters but rallied to defeat Taylor County by a score of 90-81.  The score was tied 14 times and there were 13 lead changes in the game.  The score was tied 78-78 with 2:06 minutes left in the game but Central finished the game with a 12-3 run.

 

Central shot 45.3% from the field including 14 of 28 from the three point line.  The Yellowjackets connected on 18 of 28 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 17 Taylor County turnovers.  Taylor County shot 38.7% from the field including eight of 26 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 25 of 32 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Central turnovers.

 

Devin Firman led Central with 26 points including six three point baskets.  Brandon Wells added 16 points, five rebounds, and eight assists.  Anthony Southers recorded 14 points and nine rebounds.  Dominique Gaines chipped in with 13 points and five assists.  Daivon Thompson added nine points, 12 rebounds, and two blocked shots.

Evanston defeated Miami Senior 77-75 in overtime.  Miami Senior led 56-43 early in the final period but Evanston rallied to outscore Miami Senior 20-9 in the period to force overtime.  There were nine lead changes and eight ties in the game.  Miami Senior had one last chance but Malcolm Nicholas Jr.’s shot fell short.

 

Evanston shot 35.4% from the field including nine of 30 from the three point line.  The Wildkits connected on 22 of 25 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 25 Miami Senior turnovers.  Miami Senior shot 50% from the field including six of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Stingarees connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 14 Evanston turnovers.

Paul VI dominated play in a 103-51 victory over North Bullitt.  Paul VI shot 59.7% from the field including six of 15 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 23 North Bullitt turnovers.  North Bullitt shot 32.8% from the field including 10 of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on three of four free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored six points off eight Paul VI turnovers.

This game was cancelled because of a fight involving both teams.  Gainesville led 20-10 with 1:26 remaining in the first quarter when the incident occurred.  Both teams were suspended for two games by their respective state associations and are out of this tournament.

Owen County outscored Fairdale 19-11 in the second quarter on their way to a 63-56 victory.  6-7 Sr. Carson Williams led Owen County with 28 points.  6-1 Sr. Vince Toftness added 15 points including three three point baskets.  6-4 Sr. Tre Richardson led Fairdale with 15 points.  6-0 Jr. Seth Dewboys added 11 points including three three point baskets.

North Hardin pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Fern Creek 60-54.  North Hardin shot 43.5% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Trojans connected on 17 of 30 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 18 Fern Creek turnovers.  Fern Creek shot 40.4% from the field including zero of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Tigers connected on 12 of 21 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 John Hardin turnovers.

 

Tony Jackson led North Hardin with 21 points including three three point baskets, 13 rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals.  Brandon Maxwell added 16 points and seven rebounds.  Will Alexander recorded 13 points and five rebounds.

 

6-6 Jr. DaiQuan Jones led Fern Creek with 12 points.  Anthony Wales added 10 points and four rebounds.  Antonio Rogers recorded nine points and five rebounds.

Bullitt East raced out to a 39-23 halftime lead on their way to an 82-73 victory over Central.  Bullitt East shot 44.6% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Chargers connected on 24 of 29 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 16 Central turnovers.  Central shot 44.1% from the field including eight of 27 from beyond the arc.  The Yellowjackets connected on 13 of 28 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Tyler Sharpe led Bullitt East with 31 points including five three point baskets and 10 of 12 free throws, four rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Jared Farris added 13 points and seven rebounds.  Garrett Wilson chipped in with 10 points.  Brandon Klefot recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and four assists.

 

Brandon Wells led Central with 22 points including three three point baskets, four rebounds, and six assists.  Daivon Thompson added 15 points, seven rebounds, and three blocked shots.  Devin Firman recorded 13 points and four steals.

Evanston outscored Fern Creek 20-7 in the second quarter on their way to a 72-45 victory.  Poor shooting doomed Fern Creek as they only connected on 37% of their shots.  6-6 Jr. Elyjah Williams and 5-11 Jr. Malik Jenkins led Evanston with 13 and 10 points respectively.  Williams also pulled down 12 rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Tony Washington and 6-2 So. Dunbar’s 6-2 Jr. Taveion Hollingsworth hit a shot with 3.4 seconds left on the clock to give Dunbar a 57-56 victory over Central.  Hollingsworth led Dunbar with 25 points.  6-5 Jr. Dontell Brown added 14 points and eight rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Daivon Thompson led Central with 19 points and seven rebounds.  5-10 Jr. Devin Firman and 6-5 Jr. O’Neal Swint added 11 points each.  Central was without the services of 5-10 Sr. Brandon Wells who was injure in a game versus Bullitt East on Monday.

Both teams entered this game undefeated and the game lived up to its hype as Trinity defeated Bullitt East by a score of 69-66.  The score was tied nine times and there were 11 lead changes in the game.  Bullitt East had a last gasp effort to tie the game but Bailey Rakes three point attempt narrowly missed at the buzzer.

 

Trinity shot 47.9% from the field including nine of 22 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored four points off five Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 46.6% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Chargers connected on five of five free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 12 points off five Trinity turnovers.

 

Jacob King led trinity with 27 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Gabe Schmitt added 20 points including three three point baskets.
