Coaches Ellis Myles and Tony Williams Louisville Magic team continued their impressive run this summer by capturing the 15’s championship. They went 7-0 including three pool wins; 59-49 over Minnesota Pump N Run, 80-75 over Meanstreets, and 71-41 over Gateway Basketball Club. Tournament victories were 79-56 over New Heights, 99-52 over Indiana Elite Team IN, 86-76 over Indiana Elite Hoopmatics, and captured the championship with a 63-60 victory over Eric Gordon All-Stars. DeAngelo Russell led Louisville Magic in the championship game with 24 points.
Russell (Central), Quentin Snider (Ballard), Trey Grundy (Henry Clay), and Jordan Green (Henry Clay) impressed observers this week. Other members of this star-studded squad includes Justin Martin (Ohio County), Nick True (Highlands), Christian Cunningham (Scott County), Craig Owens (Trinity), and Brandon Hatton (Dixie Heights).

New Heights (NY) defeated the Ville 2013 57-52 in overtime to claim the championship. 6-5 Shamiek Sheppard and 6-7 Jordan Washington led the victors with 21 and 14 points respectively. However Coach Levitch’s squad The Ville 2013 had a great tournament finishing 8-1. The Ville was not placed in one of the “super pools” (considered by the tourney organizers to be the best teams in the event). The Ville won their pool and defeated four of the “super pool” teams to reach the finals. Members of the team are Dominique Hawkins, Ken-jah Bosley, and Quan Taylor (Madison Central), Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County), David Levitch (North Oldham), James Quick (Trinity), Tyler Wesley (Oldham County), and Jackson Davis (Lafayette). Dominique Hawkins had a great week and sharp shooting Omar Prewitt tallied more than thirty three point baskets in the event.

Summary
I will not attempt to discuss the top players at any depth because it will be covered in many stories and blogs by several talent evaluators. I am still amazed at the quality of this outstanding event.
Some of the top players in the Class of 2012 observed were 6-10 Sr. Andre Drummond (St. Thomas Moore/Middleton, Connecticut), 6-4 Sr. Shabazz Muhammad (Bishop Gorman/Las Vegas, Nevada), 6-1 Sr. Gabe York (Orange Lutheran/Orange, California), 6-8 Sr. Perry Ellis (Wichita Heights/Wichita, Kansas), and 6-7 Sr. Jeremy Hollowell (Lawrence Central, Indianapolis, Indiana).
Several underclassmen impressed including 6-0 Jr. Kasey Hill (Montverde Academy/Eustis, Florida), 6-3 Jr. Anton Gill (Ravenscroft/Raleigh, North Carolina), 6-9 Jr. Derek Willis (Bullitt East/Mt. Washington, Kentucky), 6-0 Jr. Dominique Hawkins (Madison Central/Richmond, Kentucky), 6-5 Jr. Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County/Mt. Sterling, Kentucky), and 6-8 Jr. Malik Price-Martin (Monsignor Edward Pace/Miami Gardens, Florida). 6-3 So. DeAngelo Russell (Central/Louisville, Kentucky) continues to impress as well as several other members of the Louisville Magic team. Many other players had excellent performances and I just mentioned a few here. Please check out the various reports on this classic event.
