The Ville 2013 defeated Team Jersey Elite-Orange 61-28 on Saturday for their first tournament win.  They added two more victories on Sunday with a 65-49 victory over Atlanta Xpress and a 62-58 Quarterfinal win over South East Elite.  The Ville 2013 captured a semifinal victory on Monday by defeating Georgia Stars 61-56.  The Ville 2013 captured the championship by defeating Shining Star Sports-Schaefer by a score of 76-51.  Shining Star Sports won a 69-67 squeaker over RI Hawks 2013 Black in the Quarterfinal and eked out a 68-67 victory over Marylands Finest in a Semifinal game.

Coach David Levitch’s The Ville 2013 is a very well balanced team with several players capable of being the “man” in the big games.  Members of the team include Dominique Hawkins and Ken-Jah Bosley (Madison Central), Omar Prewitt (Montgomery County), Darryl Hicks (Louisville Trinity), Tyler Wesley (Oldham County), David Levitch (North Oldham), Larry Morton (Bryan Station), and Jack Whitman (Lexington Catholic).  Coach David Levitch and Assistant Coach Wiley Brown does an excellent job with this very talented group and while Darryl Hicks has been getting a lot of deserved attention the balance and ability of the team to share the ball is what makes this highly successful program win.

I decided to cover this particular division because I have followed the Ville teams for several years and I get the opportunity to see most of the players on the squad play several games during the high school season.  This entire event (all age groups) has been well covered from various aspects by several media outlets and the tournament website.  Also, check out Jody Demling’s blogs and other coverage in the Louisville Courier Journal newspaper.
