Conclusion

Congratulations to coach Ray Zuberer and the Owensboro Catholic Lady Aces for capturing the championship and to coach Dwayne Murray and his Monroe County Lady Falcons for their great tournament run.  Several teams and individual players had excellent performances this week.  Carla Booth of Sheldon Clark is slated to play at Eastern Kentucky University and she put up some impressive numbers this week.

It will take an entire paragraph to chronicle Becca Greenwell’s accomplishments this week.  New records include total points in the tournament 122 points in four games, old record 113 points in four games Angela Roof Saint Mary 2006, 33 points in the championship game, old record 32 by Christi Hester Louisville Holy Cross 1996.  Near misses most rebounds in one tournament 57 Sarah Elliott Jackson County in four games 2003, Becca Greenwell 56 this year,  Greenwell also tied the tournament record for free throws with 34, Amber Guffey Clinton County also had 34 in four games in 2005.

Owensboro Catholic has played a tough schedule this year which helped them in this tournament format.  Greenwell deservedly gets a lot of attention but the rest of the Owensboro Catholic team stepped up this week and this was truly a team championship.  Several of these teams are relatively young with Owensboro only having one senior on their roster and Monroe County only graduating three players.  Only three players named to the all tournament team are seniors.
