Tournament Bracket

Eastern (7-0)  vs.  Jeffersontown (9-0)  (Championship)

Eastern coach Jason Couch started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Lyonell Gaines, 6-4 Sr. Arman Marks, 6-9 Sr. Kameron Woods, 5-11 Sr. Byron Sanford, and 6-4 Sr. Remy Abell.  Jeffersontown coach Jeff Morrow countered with 6-5 Sr. Tony Kimbro, 6-3 Jr. Desmond Dorsey, 6-10 Sr. Zach Price, 6-1 Sr. Harry Cross, and 6-2 Jr. Cody Russell.

Jeffersontown captured the championship with a 69-61 victory over Eastern.  Jeffersontown led 38-20 in the third quarter but Eastern actually cut the deficit to three; 61-58 late in the game before Jeffersontown pulled away for the victory.  It was especially impressive considering Jeffersontown’s Zach Price fouled out and was limited to 11:52 minutes because of foul woes.

Jeffersontown shot 46.6% from the field including eight of 16 from the three point line.  The Chargers connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Eastern turnovers.  Eastern shot 36.4% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 15 Jeffersontown turnovers.

Harry Cross led Jeffersontown with 14 points.  5-11 Jr. Demichael Jackson, Zach Price, and Desmond Dorsey each recorded 11 points.  Tony Kimbro recorded seven points, nine rebounds, and five assists.

Remy Abell led Eastern with 21 points.  Lyonell Gaines added 10 points and nine rebounds.  Arman Marks also scored 10 points and pulled down seven rebounds.  Kameron Woods recorded seven points, 15 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

What is there not to like about this tournament?  Excellent teams, both in state and out of state with some great individual talent.  Attention is given to every detail including a souvenir program second to none and an excellent website with comprehensive up to date info.  Statistics are made available to the media and attendance is always great.  Few events in the country can match the storied history of the King of the Bluegrass event and much credit must be given to the tireless efforts of the workers and organizers.
