Presentation (12-13)  vs.  Butler (24-4)

 

Presentation coach David Jackson started the following lineup: 5-7 Jr. Shelby Adams, 5-5 So. Peyton Andres, 5-10 Sr. Rachel Russ, 5-7 Jr. Bailey Reeder, and 5-7 Jr. Ashlee Kirchner.  Butler coach Larry Just countered with 5-10 Fr. Danielle Lawrence, 5-8 Sr. Megan Cureton, 5-10 So. Aareon Smith, 5-7 Jr. MacKenzie Martinez, and 5-6 Sr. Heather Wheat.

 

Butler defeated Presentation by a score of 63-41.  Butler shot 43.1% from the field including four of 15 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 30 points off 23 Presentation turnovers.  Presentation shot 32.5% from the field including two of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Toppers connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 16 Butler turnovers.

 

Megan Cureton led Butler with 13 points and five rebounds.  Danielle Lawrence added 10 points and eight rebounds.  5-3 Jr. Cora Moore also scored 10 points.  Heather Wheat recorded 10 points, four rebounds, six assists, and five steals.

 

Bailey Reeder led Presentation with 20 points and six rebounds.  Peyton Andres added eight points.

Bullitt Central coach Bryan Bates started the following lineup: 5-7 Jr. Kaitlyn McKnight, 5-9 Jr. Seaera Minyard, 5-9 Sr. Valerie Terry, 5-5 So. Selena Yunt, and 5-3 So. Kayla Riggs.  Holy Cross coach Fred Copass countered with 5-9  So. Sydney Morabito, 5-8 Jr. Mya Hardin, 5-11 Jr. Julie Skaggs, 5-3 So. Morgan Wimberg, and 5-6 Jr. Kim Mingus.

 

Holy Cross eked out a 48-46 victory over Bullitt Central.  Holy Cross shot 35.8% from the field including only one of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Cougars connected on nine of 15 from the free throw line, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 24 Bullitt Central turnovers.  Bullitt Central shot 36.4% from the field including nine of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cougars connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Holy Cross turnovers.

 

Sydney Morabito led Holy Cross with 14 points.  Kim Mingus added 10 points.  Mya Hardin chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.  Julie Skaggs recorded four points, eight rebounds, and seven blocked shots.  Morgan Wimberg added six points, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals.

 

5-6 So. Kristen Collins led Bullitt Central with 14 points including four three point baskets.  Seaera Minyard added nine points and seven rebounds.  Valerie Terry added eight points and six rebounds.  Kayla Riggs chipped in with six points, five rebounds, and six assists.

Pleasure Ridge Park coach George Fluhr started the following lineup: 5-8 So. Kelsey Adwell, 5-6 So. Alexis Stewart, 5-9 Sr. Sharmain McClain, 5-4 Jr. Katrina Kuban, and 5-7 Sr. Emily Hibbs.  Central coach Ashley Butler countered with 5-9 Fr. Brianna Hawkins, 5-10 Jr. Nikcoa Jackson, 5-10 Sr. Crissa Washington, 5-6 Jr. Jerea Brice, and 5-8 Sr. Brianna Averette.

 

Central scored 37 points off 27 Pleasure Ridge Park turnovers in a 59-50 victory.  Central shot 32.8% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Jackets connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and attempted 36 more shots (64-28) from the field than Pleasure Ridge Park.  Pleasure Ridge Park shot 53.6% from the field including three of three from beyond the arc.  The Lady Panthers connected on 17 of 25 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Central turnovers.

 

Brianna Averette led Central with 21 points, four rebounds, three assists, and seven steals.  Jerea Brice added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Kelsey Adwell led Pleasure Ridge Park with 19 points and seven rebounds.  Emily Hibbs added 18 points.  Adwell was five of eight from the field including one of one from beyond the arc, and eight of nine from the three point line.  Hibbs was seven of nine from the field and four of six from the free throw line.  6-0 Jr. Courtney McIntyre pulled down 10 rebounds.

Emily Fryman.

 

Bullitt East defeated Doss by a score of 70-13.  Thirteen players logged minutes for Bullitt East with twelve entering the scoring column.  Bullitt East shot 45.5% from the field including five of 22 from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on five of 14 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 37 points off 32 Doss turnovers.  Doss shot 15.2% from the field including three of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Dragons missed all four free throw attempts, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored three points off seven Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Nikole Isabel led Bullitt East with 21 points including three three point baskets in only 12:46 minutes of playing time.  Meredith Polson added 11 points.  5-9 Jr. Ashley Duvall pulled down nine rebounds.

 

Oashai Lopes led Doss with four points and four rebounds.  Seantaya Burrell, Euzane’ Williams, and Preosha Kaufman added three points each.

Butler defeated Holy Cross by a score of 45-35.  Butler shot 39.5% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 23 Holy Cross turnovers.  Holy Cross shot 38.2% from the field including two of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cougars connected on seven of 15 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored eight points off 10 Butler turnovers.

 

Megan Cureton led Butler with 11 points and seven rebounds.  Heather Wheat added 10 points and five rebounds.  Danielle Lawrence chipped in with eight points and seven rebounds.

 

Mya Hardin led Holy Cross with 16 points and nine rebounds.  Kim Mingus added nine points and six rebounds.

Bullitt East outscored Central 23-11 in the second quarter on their way to a 64-50 victory.  Bullitt East shot 53.8% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on 19 of 29 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Central turnovers.  Central shot 41.7% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Jackets connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 16 Bullitt East turnovers.

 

Lindey Young led Bullitt East with 24 points and 13 rebounds.  Young was seven of 10 from the field and 10 of 15 from the free throw line.  Nikole Isabel added 16 points including three three point baskets.  Meredith Polson chipped in with 15 points.

 

Brianna Averette led Central with 27 points including two three point baskets.  Brianna Hawkins added nine points and six rebounds.

Saturday March 5th

 

Bullitt East (25-8)  vs.  Butler (26-4) (Championship)

 

Bullitt East coach Chris Stalling started the following lineup: 5-7 Sr. Whitney Stansbury, 5-11 Sr. Meredith Polson, 6-2 Sr. Lindey Young, 5-8 Jr. Nikole Isabel, and 5-3 Fr. Emily Fryman.  Butler coach Larry Just countered with 5-10 Fr. Danielle Lawrence, 5-8 Sr. Megan Cureton, 5-10 So. Aareon Smith, 5-7 Jr. MacKenzie Martinez, and 5-6 Sr. Heather Wheat.

 

Butler captured the 6th Region Championship with a 40-39 victory over Bullitt East.  MacKenzie Martinez intercepted a pass in the closing seconds to ensure the victory for Butler.  Butler took a 15-6 lead after the first quarter but Bullitt East rallied and actually held a 36-35 lead midway through the final quarter.

 

Butler shot 39% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 48.1% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 11 of 22 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored five points off nine Butler turnovers.  Bullitt East only attempted 27 shots from the field compared to 41 attempts by Butler.

 

Aareon Smith led Butler with 12 points.  Megan Cureton added nine points.  Heather Wheat recorded six points and six assists.

 

Lindey Young led Butler with 19 points and 15 rebounds.  Meredith Polson and Nikole Isabel each recorded seven points.
