Monday February 21st

 

Berea (9-16)  vs.  Madison Central (18-9) (Girls)

 

Berea coach Jerry Bingham started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Noah Short, 5-8 Jr. Taylor Winstead, 5-10 Jr. Sophia Shearer, 5-4 Jr. Brooke Coccari, and 5-4 Fr. Chase Fain.  Madison Central coach Robbie Cooksey countered with 5-11 So. Ashton Feldhaus, 5-9 Sr. Jenna Cornelison, 5-10 Jr. Kristin Congleton, 5-5 So. Larryn Brooks, and 5-6 Sr. Erika Parks.

 

Madison Central scored 39 points off 31 Berea turnovers in a 72-39 victory.  The Madison Central defense recorded 25 steals.  Madison Central shot 44.6% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 19 of 26 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and held a 19-11 advantage in bench scoring.  Berea shot 38.1% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on three of eight free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored four points off 11 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jenna Cornelison led Madison Central with 16 points, five rebounds, three assists, and six steals.  Ashton Feldhaus also scored 16 points including two three point baskets.  Erika Parks also reached double figures with 11 points.

 

Sophia Shearer led Berea with seven points and six rebounds.  Noah Short added six points and eight rebounds.  Chase Fain also recorded six points on two three point baskets.

Berea coach Bill Smallwood started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Luke Ambrose, 6-1 Sr. Bradley Dean, 6-3 Jr. Barry Scudder-Davis, 5-11 Jr. Ben Miller, and 6-0 Sr. Nathan Vaughn.  Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-2 Sr. Nick Ford, 6-0 Sr. Brenton Covington, 6-6 Jr. Hunter Allen, 6-1 Jr. John O’Bryan, and 6-0 So. Dominique Hawkins.

 

Madison Central defeated a very determined Berea team 57-48 in a game in which  Berea raced out to a 14-5 first quarter lead.  Madison Central outscored Berea 22-8 in the second quarter to lead 27-22 at halftime.  Berea had two starters; Barry Scudder-Davis and Nathan Vaughn foul out of the game.  Madison Central held a decided 34-2 advantage in bench scoring.

 

Madison Central shot 47.7% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 12 of 19 from the free throw line, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 42.1% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on 13 of 23 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers.

 

6-2 Sr. Jared Pyatt led Madison Central with 18 points.  Pyatt was five of seven from the field including one of three from the three point line, and seven of eight from the free throw line.  6-0 So. Ken-Jah Bosley added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Dominique Hawkins also recorded 10 points.

 

Nathan Vaughn led Berea with 20 points including two three point baskets.  Luke Ambose added 12 points.

Tuesday February 22nd

 

Madison Southern (8-17)  vs.  Model (8-20) (Girls)

 

Madison Southern coach Summer Simmons started the following lineup: 5-6 Sr. Tosha Boggs, 5-2 Jr. Jordan Renner, 5-7 Sr. Mary Mullins, 5-2 8th grader Kristen Hayes, and 5-2 Sr. Brooke Casteel.  Model coach Ronald Preece countered with 5-7 Fr. Madison Keene, 5-6 Sr. Sydney Smoot, 5-9 Jr. Tara Hill, 5-5 Jr. Caroline Engle, and 5-5 Jr. Madison Schneid.

 

Madison Southern defeated Model by a score of 50-45.  The score was tied 23-23 at halftime and Madison Southern took a 38-30 lead after three quarters.  Turnovers were critical in this game as Madison Southern scored 23 points off 25 Model turnovers.

 

Madison Southern shot 26.5% from the field including three of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 11 of 14 free throws and pulled down 37 rebounds.  Model shot 35.3% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 48 rebounds, and scored four points off 11 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Mary Mullins led Madison Southern with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four steals.  Tosha Boggs added 15 points and four steals.  5-3 7th grader Brianna Lanham chipped in with eight points and 11 rebounds.

 

Madison Schneid led Model with 13 points.  Tara Hill added nine points and pulled down 15 rebounds.  Madison Keene pulled down 10 rebounds.

Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Aaron Ponder, 6-2 Jr. Brandon McGuire, 6-2 So. Spencer Stone, 5-9 Sr. AJ Jeck, and 5-11 Jr. Chris Roberts.  Model coach Wes Scarberry countered with 6-2 Jr. Cody Sizemore, 5-10 Jr. Hunter Conner, 6-4 So. Jon Ballard, 5-10 So. AJ Hammons, and 5-9 Sr. Dennis Smith.

 

Model led 44-39 after three quarters but Madison Southern outscored Model 35-21 in the final quarter to earn a 74-65 victory.  There were 51 fouls called in this game with 31 against Model and Madison Southern was whistled for 20 fouls.

 

Madison Southern shot 38.8% from the field including three of 19 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 33 of 44 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 18 Model turnovers.  Model shot 43.9% from the field including six of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored seven points off 11 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Aaron Ponder led Madison Southern with 30 points and 13 rebounds.  Chris Roberts and AJ Jeck added 18 and 13 points respectively.

 

Cody Sizemore led Model with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  6-0 Jr. Wayne Morris added 12 points.

Ashton Feldhaus, 5-9 Sr. Jenna Cornelison, 5-10 Jr. Kristin Congleton, 5-5 So. Larryn Brooks, and 5-6 Sr. Erika Parks.

 

Madison Central raced out to a 28-15 first quarter lead on their way to an 80-59 victory over Madison Southern.  Madison Central shot 52.5% from the field including 10 of 20 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on six of seven free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 20 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 41.7% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 12 of 14 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jenna Cornelison led Madison Central with 36 points including five three point baskets and pulled down five rebounds.  Cornelison was 14 of 21 from the field including five of seven from beyond the arc, and three of three from the free throw line.  Ashton Feldhaus added 10 points including two three point baskets.

 

Tosha Boggs led Madison Southern with 25 points.  Brooke Casteel added 18 points on six three point baskets.  Mary Mullins chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

Madison Central led 14-11 at halftime and pulled away in the second half for a 52-29 victory over Madison Southern.  Madison Southern only shot 13.6% from the field in the second half including 0-14 from the three point line.

 

Madison Central shot 33.3% from the field including two of 18 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 49 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 11 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 18.4% from the field including two of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 13 of 20 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off six Madison Central turnovers.

 

Dominique Hawkins led Madison Central with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Hunter Allen pulled down 12 rebounds.

 

Aaron Ponder led Madison Southern with 11 points and six rebounds.  Chris Roberts added 10 points.
