North Laurel  vs.  DuPont Manual

 

North Laurel coach Roy Bowling started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Ashley Woolum, 5-7 Jr. Samantha Proffitt, 5-11 So. Cheyenne Madden, 5-11 Sr. Kelsie Smith, and 5-6 Jr. Tamara Crawford.  DuPont Manual coach Stacy Pendleton countered with 5-10 Jr. Kara Wright, 5-6 Jr. Leasia Wright, 5-10 Sr. Mechael Guess, 5-4 Sr. Raven Hester, and 5-7 Jr. April Wilson.

 

Manual scored 42 points off 34 North Laurel turnovers in an 80-45 victory.  Manual shot 45.7% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Crimsons connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and held a 27-8 advantage in bench scoring.  North Laurel shot 42.5% from the field including two of six from beyond the arc.  The Jaguars connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off 14 Manual turnovers.

 

Mechael Guess led Manual with 21 points, five rebounds, and four steals.  April Wilson added 12 points, five rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Kara Wright recorded nine points and 10 rebounds.

 

Tamara Crawford led North Laurel with 12 points.  Kelsie Smith added nine points.  Cheyenne Madden recorded eight points and seven rebounds.

Southwestern  vs.  Marion County

 

Southwestern coach Tim Rice started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Hannah Grant, 5-7 Sr. Danay Fothergill, 6-1 Sr. Jessica Pierce, 5-6 8th grader Destiny Molden, and 5-6 8th grader Adison Corder.  Marion County coach Trent Milby countered with 5-7 Sr. Shakila Goodin, 5-9 Jr. Bre Elder, 6-1 So. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, 5-8 So. Patrice Tonge, and 5-10 So. Makayla Epps.

 

Marion County captured a hard fought 58-54 victory over Southwestern.  The score was tied seven times and there were eight lead changes.

 

Marion County shot 36.1% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Southwestern turnovers.  Southwestern shot 48.7% from the field including seven of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Warriors connected on nine of 13 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 10 points off nine Marion County turnovers.

 

Bre Elder led Marion County with 29 points.  Elder was 11 of 15 from the field including one of one from beyond the arc and six of 11 from the free throw line.  Kyvin Goodin-Rogers added 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Makayla Epps also recorded 11 points.

 

Danay Fothergill led Southwestern with 33 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Fothergill was 10 of 16 from the field including five of six from the three point line and eight of 11 from the free throw line.  Jessica Pierce added nine points and seven rebounds.

Newport Central Catholic defeated Lincoln County by a score of 47-44.  Newport Central Catholic shot 38.1% from the field including two of seven from the three point line.  The Thoroughbreds connected on seven of 13 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 10 Lincoln County turnovers.  Lincoln County shot 31.4% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Newport Central Catholic turnovers.

 

Hannah Thiem led Newport Central Catholic with 18 points including two three point baskets.  5-10 Fr. Nicole Kiernan added 13 points and nine rebounds.  Kiley Bartels chipped in with 10 points.

 

Emily Fox led Lincoln County with 18 points including three three point baskets.  Morgan Reed added 10 points.  Sydney Harris recorded seven points and seven rebounds.

Community School defeated a cold shooting (16.7% from the field) Betsy Layne by a score of 45-21.  The victors shot 48.6% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Seahawks connected on eight of 10 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 25 Betsy Layne turnovers.  Betsy Layne shot 16.7% from the field including one of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Ladycats connected on eight of 16 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored nine points off 30 Community School turnovers.

 

Michelle Woods led Community School with 22 points.  Woods was eight of 10 from the field including two of three from beyond the arc and four of five from the free throw line.  6-0 So. Grayson Pinholster added 11 points.

Anderson County led 29-15 late in the second quarter and survived a Ballard rally to earn a 57-51 victory.  The score was tied 39-39 at the end of three quarters.  Anderson County outscored Ballard 18-12 in the final quarter to earn the victory.

 

Anderson County shot 46.8% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Bearcats connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 21 Ballard turnovers.  Ballard shot 34.7% from the field including three of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Bruins connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 20 Anderson County turnovers.

 

MacKenzie Cann led Anderson County with 20 points including three three point baskets.  Eriel McKee added 12 points and six steals.  Sydney Brown chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.  6-1 So. Kali Whiteside pulled down eight rebounds and blocked three shots.

 

Alexus Colbert and 5-8 Fr. Dre’a Matchen led Ballard with 15 points each.  Javonna Layfield added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Sacred Heart Academy defeated Knott County Central by a score of 45-41.  Sacred Heart Academy shot 34% from the field including three of 17 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 27 Knott County Central turnovers.  Knott County Central shot 43.6% from the field including one of four from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 20 Sacred Heart Academy turnovers.

 

5-11 Sr. Morgan Clemons led the victors with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals.  5-6 Jr. Jade Tubb added 11 points.  5-9 Jr. Sandy Gahafer pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Sasha Pike led Knott County Central with 23 points, 12 rebounds, and five steals.  Kelsie Jacobs added nine points and five rebounds.

Ryle defeated Central by a score of 47-23.  Ryle shot 36.5% from the field including five of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 23 Central turnovers.  Central shot 18.2% from the field including zero of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Jackets connected on seven of 14 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored six points off 18 Ryle turnovers.

 

Abby Jump led Ryle with 11 points including three three point baskets.  Jenna Crittendon added 10 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals.  Dawn Johnson recorded 10 points and five rebounds.

Perry County Central defeated Grayson County by a score of 54-51 in overtime.  Grayson County’s Alex Crowe hit a three point basket at the buzzer to tie the score at 49-49 and force overtime.

 

Perry County Central shot 35% from the field including three of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Commodores connected on nine of 18 from the free throw line, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 29 Grayson County turnovers.  Grayson County shot 32.1% from the field including seven of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cougars connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 51 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 14 Perry County Central turnovers.

 

Kayla Ranklin led Perry County Central with 21 points, 13 rebounds, four blocked shots, and five steals.  Kendall Noble added 12 points, nine rebounds, six assists, and six steals.

 

Chelsea Pharris led Grayson County with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Alex Crowe added 10 points and seven rebounds.  5-7 Fr. Kaylan Shull chipped in with nine points and nine rebounds.  5-8 Sr. Moriah Ashley recorded eight points and nine rebounds.

Bowling Green defeated Butler by a score of 64-59.  Bowling Green shot 51.2% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line.  The Lady Purples connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Butler turnovers.  Butler shot 40.4% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Bearettes connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 20 Bowling Green turnovers.

 

Adrienne Tarrence led five Bowling Green players in double figures with 15 points, nine rebounds, and five assists.  Zoe Sibalich added 14 points.  Brittany Vaughn chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Alexis Lawrence recorded 12 points including three three point baskets.  5-9 Jr. Kendra Barnett also reached double figures with 10 points.

 

Aareon Smith led Butler with 14 points.  Megan Cureton added 13 points.  MacKenzie Martinez recorded 11 points and five steals.

St. Joseph led 41-19 in the third quarter and withstood a Murray rally to capture a 63-57 victory.  St. Joseph shot 33.3% from the field including 11 if 23 from the three point line.  The Irish connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored seven points off 11 Murray turnovers.  Murray shot 36.7% from the field including seven of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 St. Joseph turnovers.

 

Mychal Johnson led St. Joseph with 26 points including 13 of 14 free throws and pulled down eight rebounds.  Griffin Dempsey added 15 points on five three point baskets.  Amber Chadwick recorded 14 points and six rebounds.  Sara Sang pulled down 17 rebounds.

 

Janssen Starks and Haley Armstrong led Murray with 14 and 12 points respectively.  Shelby Crouch added nine points and 10 rebounds.  Sian House also pulled down 10 rebounds.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 50-2 halftime lead on their way to an 86-14 victory over Dayton Dunbar.  Twelve players logged playing time for Lexington Catholic with eleven entering the scoring column.  The LexCath starters minutes logged from 8:34 to 11:55 minutes.

 

Lexington Catholic shot 43% from the field including four of 18 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored 60 points off 45 Dayton Dunbar turnovers.  Lexington Catholic attempted 49 more shots (79-30) from the field than Dayton Dunbar.  Dayton Dunbar shot 20% from the field including one of six from beyond the arc.  The Lady Wolverines connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored two points off 11 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Octavia Wilson led Lexington Catholic with 16 points and four assists.  5-9 8th grader Rachel Blake added 11 points and 12 rebounds.  5-5 8th grader Tori Pippen also recorded 11 points.  Alex Botkin chipped in with 10 points and seven steals.

Boone County defeated Assumption 41-37 in overtime.  Boone County led 28-13 in the third quarter but Assumption rallied to tie the game at 35-35 at the end of regulation.

 

Boone County shot 26.1% from the field including six of 21 from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on 11 of 26 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 26 Assumption turnovers.  Assumption shot 33.3% from the field including two of six from beyond the arc.  The Rockets connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 17 Boone County turnovers.

 

Stacie Shrout led Boone County with 16 points including four three point baskets.  Annie Browning added eight points.  Elizabeth Switzer and 5-8 Jr. Krissy Hickman pulled down nine and eight rebounds respectively.

 

Maggie Hartlage led Assumption with 14 points.  Becca Durbin added seven points and Katie Friedrich pulled down nine rebounds.

Mercy outscored Boone County 27-17 in the third quarter on their way to a 73-64 victory.  Mercy Shot 58.8% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Boone County turnovers.  Boone County shot 41.8% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 21 Mercy turnovers.

 

Juliann Miller led Mercy with 27 points.  Miller was 13 of 17 from the field and one of two from the free throw line.  5-8 Sr. Emily Goetz added 13 points.  Christine Roush recorded 12 points and seven rebounds.  Lauren Faris also tallied 12 points.

The score was tied 31-31 at halftime but Perry County Central pulled away in the second half for a 74-58 victory over Anderson County.  Perry County Central shot 52.8% from the field including four of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Commodores connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 35 points off 25 Anderson County turnovers.  Anderson County shot 43.5% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 22 Perry County Central turnovers.

 

Kendall Noble led the victors with 35 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.  Kayla Rankin added 28 points and seven rebounds.

Boone County led 34-17 at halftime but had to survive a frantic rally by Marion County to earn a 71-69 overtime victory.  Marion County’s Makayla Epps hit a three point basket at the buzzer to force the overtime.

 

Boone County shot 51.9% from the field including eight of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored seven points off seven Marion County turnovers.  Marion County shot 43.8% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on nine of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 24 Boone County turnovers.

Ryle defeated Franklin County 38-35 despite the fact that Ryle star Jenna Crittendon was limited to 6:46 of playing time due to an injury.  Ryle shot 32.6% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Raiders connected on three of five free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 26.7% from the field including 19% in the second half and connected on five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on six of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 20 Ryle turnovers.

 

Abby Jump led Ryle with 11 points including three three point baskets.  McKell Oliverio, Tyianna Douthit, and 5-7 Jr. Ashley Cheesman each recorded eight points.  Dawn Johnson pulled down 12 rebounds and dished out six assists.

Mercy shot 47.2% from the field including three of seven from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 16 of 21 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 14 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 44.2% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Mercy turnovers.

Coach Mark Evans “Cardiac Jaguars” pulled off another come-from-behind victory to claim the championship with a 62-59 victory over Manual.  Mercy trailed 48-41 after three quarters but rallied for the victory.
