Madison Southern  (8-17)  vs.  Model  (13-12)  (Girls)

 

Madison Southern coach Brian Cunigan started the following lineup: 5-6 Jr. Tosha Boggs, 5-4 So. Kandace Cruse, 5-8 Jr. Mary Mullins, 5-4 So. Jessica Helton, and 5-2 Jr. Brooke Casteel.  Model coach Jamie Keene countered with 5-6 Sr. Emily Lowe, 5-10 So. Tara Hill, 5-9 Sr. Shelby McNeely, 5-6 Sr. Shelby Schneid, and 5-5 So. Madison Schneid.

 

Model defeated Madison Southern by a score of 66-58.  Model shot 54.3% from the field including zero of three from the three point line.  The Lady Patriots connected on 16 of 26 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 20 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 30.3% from the field including three of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 25 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 30 Model turnovers.

 

Shelby McNeely led Model with 35 points and six rebounds.  McNeely was 13 of 19 from the field and nine of 10 from the free throw line.  Tara Hill added nine points and seven rebounds.  Madison Schneid also scored nine points.

 

Tosha Boggs led Madison Southern with 24 points and 12 rebounds.  Mary Mullins added 13 points and eight rebounds.  Brooke Casteel chipped in with 12 points including two three point baskets.

Madison Southern defeated Model by a score of 66-57.  Madison Southern shot 44.4% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Eagles connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 21 Model turnovers.  Model shot 39.6% from the field including six of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Carrington Roberts led Madison Southern with 20 points.  Aaron Ponder added 12 points and seven rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Rico brown also tallied 12 points.  Joey Wallace chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

 

Dennis Smith led Model with 21 points including three three point baskets.  5-10 Fr. A.J. Hammons added 15 points including three three point baskets.  Matt Witt recorded 11 points and 12 rebounds.

Madison Central coach Robbie Cooksey started the following lineup: 5-11 Fr. Ashton Feldhaus, 5-9 Jr. Jenna Cornelison, 5-10 Sr. Brislyn Sizemore, 5-5 Sr. Christina Ciolek, and 5-5 Fr. Larryn Brooks.  Berea coach Jerry Bingham countered with 5-6 So. Taylor Winstead, 5-10 Jr. Sarah Haycraft, 5-10 So. Sophia Shearer, 5-4 So. Brooke Coccari, and 5-5 Jr. Rachel Wilder.

 

Madison Central raced out to a 26-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 65-24 victory over Berea.  Fifteen players saw action for the Lady Indians tonight with minutes ranging from 8:13 to 12:53.

 

Madison Central shot 37.7% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 36 points off 37 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 25.7% from the field including one of three from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pirates connected on five of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored six points off 14 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jenna Cornelison led Madison Central with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Brislyn Sizemore added 12 points.  5-11 Sr. Kaity Busch chipped in with 10 points.

 

Rachel Wilder led Berea with 15 points.  Sophia Shearer pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

Madison Central defeated Berea by a score of 58-35.  Madison Central shot shot 41.7% from the field including zero of eight from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 18 of 27 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Berea turnovers.  Berea shot 30.2% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Pirates connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored seven points off 12 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Hunter Allen led Madison Central with 17 points and seven rebounds.  Dominique Hawkins added 12 points and six rebounds.  Nick Ford recorded eight points and 13 rebounds.

 

Jeremy Hamilton led Berea with 10 points and eight rebounds.  Nathan Vaughn also recorded 10 points.

Madison Central raced out to a 52-15 halftime lead on their way to an 87-44 victory over Model.  Fifteen players saw action for Madison Central with thirteen players cracking the scoring column.

 

Madison Central shot 50.7% from the field including two of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Indians connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 42 points off 34 Model turnovers.  Madison Central held a 43-9 advantage in bench scoring.  Model shot 37.8% from the field including five of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Patriots connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 13 Madison central turnovers.

 

5-11 Sr. Kaity Busch led Madison Central with 17 points and eight rebounds in only 12:28 minutes of playing time.  Ashton Feldhaus and Jenna Cornelison added 13 and 10 points respectively.

 

Shelby McNeely led Model with 14 points and five rebounds.  Shelby Schneid added nine points on three three point baskets.

The score was tied 22-22 at halftime but Madison Central pulled away in the second half for a 59-45 victory over Madison Southern.  Madison Central shot 46.5% from the field including three of 10 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 16 of 22 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off eight Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 28.9% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored nine points off seven Madison Central turnovers.

 

Dominique Hawkins led Madison Central with 22 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.  Brenton Covington added 14 points including two three point baskets.  Hunter Allen recorded seven points and nine rebounds.

 

Carrington Roberts led Madison Southern with 13 points.  Aaron Ponder added 12 points including three three point baskets.  Joey Wallace chipped in with nine points and 11 rebounds.
