Hopkins County Central coach Matt Bell started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Nikee Caldwell, 6-3 Sr. Montrez Tandy, 6-9 Sr. Daniel Croft, 6-4 Sr. Cameron Tabor, and 5-11 Sr. Je’Vonte Hughes.  St. Xavier coach Kevin Klein countered with 6-5 Sr. Nick Spalding, 6-4 Sr. Matt Lohr, 6-5 Sr. Kyle Rizenbergs, 6-0 Sr. Patrick Butcher, and 5-10 Jr. Michael Ising.

 

St. Xavier connected on six three point baskets in the first quarter to take a 28-14 lead on their way to a 78-51 victory over Hopkins County Central.  Hopkin County Central’s chances dimmed when point guard Je’Vonte Hughes left the game with a knee injury.

 

Patrick Butcher led St. Xavier with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Matt Lohr and Kyle Rizenbergs added 12 and 11 points respectively.

 

Daniel Croft, Nikee Caldwell, and 5-7 So. Jalen Baxter led Hopkins County Central with 10, eight, and eight points respectively.

Seneca outscored Boone County 32-12 in the third quarter on their way to an 83-66 victory.  Seneca held a 37-12 advantage in bench scoring.

 

Seneca shot 51.5% from the field including two of 14 from the three point line.  The Redhawks connected on 11 of 12 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 29 points off 27 Boone County turnovers.  Boone County shot 53.8% from the field including zero of three from beyond the arc.  The Rebels connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 20 Seneca turnovers.

 

6-3 Sr. Jordan Jacobs led Seneca with 17 points.  Martez Harris and 6-2 Jr. Kevin Shaw added 16 and 14 points respectively.  Walter Alexander recorded 13 points and seven rebounds.

Aaron Watts led McCreary Central with 30  points including three three point baskets.  Watts added 12 rebounds and six assists.  6-5 Jr. Jacob Dixon added 17 points including five three point baskets.  Tyler Perry recorded 15 points and eight rebounds.

 

Kraig Farley led Muhlenberg County with 15 points on five three point baskets.  Joe Gabbard and 5-9 Jr. Michael Civils added 10 points each.

Lexington Catholic held a 31-4 advantage in bench scoring in a 72-45 victory over Prestonsburg.  Twelve players cracked the scoring column for Lexington Catholic with no player logging more than 19:20 of playing time.

 

Lexington Catholic shot 50.9% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 11 of 15 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 27 Prestonsburg turnovers.  Prestonsburg shot 31.4% from the field including seven of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Blackcats connected on 16 of 25 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 18 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Jaylen Beckham and Seth Beckham led Lexington Catholic with 13 and 10 points respectively.  Jaylen Beckham also recorded five steals.

 

Michael Burchett led Prestonsburg with 19 points including three three point baskets.  Burchett also pulled down six rebounds.

6-9 Jr. Curtis Crabtree came off the bench to lead Boone County with 14 points in 9:58 minutes of playing time.  Mikey Gabbard and Travis Montgomery added 13 points each.  Andy Earls chipped in with 10 points.

Lexington Catholic scored 29 points off 23 McCreary Central turnovers in a 66-53 victory.  Lexington Catholic shot 52.2% from the field including seven of 13 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 11 of 16 free throws and pulled down 17 rebounds.  McCreary Central shot 38.1% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Raiders connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Scott Schuette led Lexington Catholic with 18 points including five three point baskets.  Taylor Martin and Jaylen Beckham added 14 and 13 points respectively.  Seth Beckham also reached double figures with 10 points.

Trinity captured the championship with a 60-58 overtime victory over Lexington Catholic.  Trinity held a 29-15 lead at halftime but Lexington Catholic rallied to take a 46-38 lead in the fourth quarter.  Trinity fought back to tie the game at 49-49 on a basket by Josh Sewell.  Lexington Catholic took a 51-49 lead on two free throws by Jaylen  Beckham with 26 seconds left in regulation.  Trinity’s Charles Foster hit two free throws with 13 seconds left to tie the score at 51-51 and force overtime.  5-11 So. Troy Saxton led Trinity in overtime with four points.

 

Trinity shot 48.9% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line.  The Shamrocks connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 16 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 40% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on 13 of 19 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 19 Trinity turnovers.

 

Taylor Epley led Trinity with 21 points including four three point baskets and pulled down seven rebounds.  Josh Sewell added 17 points and six rebounds.

 

Jaylen Beckham led Lexington Catholic with 27 points.  Beckham was 10 of 14 from the field including one of two from beyond the arc and six of seven from the free throw line.  Scott Schuette added nine points and Taylor Martin recorded eight points and eight rebounds.
