Conclusion

Congratulations to Letcher Central and Southwestern for capturing their respective division championships.  I have attempted to give a brief recap of each game in this tournament and the statistics came from the game scoresheets.  I apologize in advance for any misspelled names or errors in stats as I hurriedly transcribed the statistics from the scoresheets.  This report is meant to be an overview of the tournament for entertainment purposes and not an instrument for ascertaining official statistics or precise individual records.  There was some excellent team play this week considering some teams were not at full strength due to absences as a result of injuries or other scheduling conflicts.

AAU did not select a varsity All Tournament team this week but several girls had excellent tournaments.  Some of the players who performed well this week included the following:  Devin Fothergill, Danay Fothergill, Stephanie Salyers, and Ashley Fowler (Southwestern), Maddie Peabody, Megan Smith, Morgan Clemons, and Autumn Miller (Sacred Heart), Casey Jackson and Kirsten Delph (Notre Dame), Ebony Rowe and Shomari Kendrick (Dunbar), Anna Martin, Courtney Clifton, and Clara Mitchell (Lexington Christian Academy), Tiffany Yates (Danville), Mackenzie Lee and Elizabeth Prewitt (Montgomery County), Whitney Belle Jackson and Danielle Fox (Clay County), Mallory Adler and Bekah Towles (Highlands), Hillary Moore (Leslie County), Shae Ferguson and Lakin Griffith (Elliott County), Jessica Coffey (Somerset), Jessica Upchurch (Lincoln County), and Holly Jones (Whitley County).

Southwestern is an experienced squad that played well this week.  Stephanie Salyers and Devin Fothergill give Southwestern a potent inside-outside duo.  Danay Fothergill and Ashley Fowler are capable of putting up big numbers.  Several other players had good performances and several of the teams playing here this week should compete for regional championships.

The Junior Varsity division featured some good young talent that will compete for quality varsity playing time this season.
