Shelby County Coach Sally Zimmerman started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Jennica Garitty, 5-5 Sr. Allison Morris, 5-9 Sr. Karissa Nicholson, 5-7 Jr. Haleigh LeCompte, and 5-5 Sr. Raechele Gray. Paul L. Dunbar Coach Mike Sowers countered with 5-7 Sr. Pilar Walker, 5-3 Jr. Erin Lucas, 6-1 Sr. Chantelle Pressley, 5-5 Sr. Megan LaRue, and 5-7 Sr. Cameron Howard.
Paul L. Dunbar opened the game on a 10-0 run on their way to a 67-37 victory over Shelby County. Dunbar was never threatened tonight as they increased their advantage each quarter. Shelby County was never able to get any offense in the paint as Chantelle Pressley and 6-0 So. Ebony Rowe combined to block seven shots. Dunbar shot 46% from the field but was only one of seven from the free throw line.
Shelby County shot 35% from the field and connected on two of seven free throws. The Lady Rockets were guilty of 22 turnovers. They were guilty of six turnovers early, allowing Dunbar to lead 10-0 midway through the opening quarter. Shelby County also was outrebounded tonight by a sizeable margin.
Megan LaRue and Cameron Howard led Paul L. Dunbar with 14 and 13 points respectively. 5-7 Sr. Chelsey Johnson and Ebony Rowe came off the bench to add eight points each. Rowe also was a force on the boards with 17 rebounds. Chantelle Pressley was very active in the paint adding seven points, six rebounds, and four blocks. Raechele Gray provided most of the offense for Shelby County with 15 points. Karissa Nicholson and Dee Dee Davis added six points each.
