Lutheran East (OH) (10-1)  vs.  Lexington Catholic (16-1)   (Girls)

Lutheran East coach Melvin Burke started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Tylar Hartfield, 5-6 Sr. Blair Calhoun, 6-3 So. Angela Radloff, 5-6 Sr. Special Jennings, and 5-4 So. Brianna Easterling.  Lexington Catholic coach Jeff Hans countered with 5-11 Jr. Natalie Novosel, 5-9 So. Maggie Wilson, 6-0 Sr. Kellie Cash, 5-7 Sr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Jr. Briana Green.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 24-11 first quarter lead on their way to a 74-51 victory over Lutheran East.  The victorious Lady Knights were able to substitute liberally today as the ten players on the roster logged between 8:03-23:32 minutes of playing time with all ten entering the scoring column. 

Lexington Catholic shot 40.4% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 25 of 30 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 20 Lutheran East turnovers.  Lutheran East shot 26.4% from the field including only one of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Falcons connected on 12 of 19 free throws, grabbed 48 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Lexington Catholic turnovers. 

Natalie Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 19 points, six rebounds, and five assists.  Keyla Snowden added 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Briana Green chipped in with 13 points and five assists. 

Special Jennings led Lutheran East with 17 points and six rebounds.  Brianna Easterling added 15 points.  Tylar Hartfield chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.

Huntington (WV) (11-0)  vs.  Lexington Catholic (12-6)   (Boys)

Huntington coach Lloyd McGuffin started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. O. J. Mayo, 6-6 Sr. Bruce Senior, 6-8 Sr. Patrick Patterson, 6-0 Sr. Jamaal Williams, and 5-11 Sr. Michael Taylor.  Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Jr. Taylor Stewart, 6-2 Jr. Tyler Corvin, 6-5 Jr. Nathan Novosel, 6-6 Jr. Jordan Smart, and 6-3 Sr. Zach Newton.

Huntington proved to be too good today as they defeated Lexington Catholic 97-64 before an announced crowd of 6,214.  Lexington Catholic pulled within single digits early in the final period but Huntington quickly took control of the game.  The Knights had no answer for the explosive O. J. Mayo who scored 31 of his 37 points in the second half. 

Huntington shot a sizzling 66.1% from the field including 10 of 20 from the three point line.  The Highlanders connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 32 points off 23 Lexington Catholic turnovers.  Lexington Catholic shot 38.8% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Knights connected on six of eight free throws, grabbed 33 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 19 Huntington turnovers. 

The victors were led by  O. J. Mayo with 37 points including five three point baskets.  Mayo also pulled down five rebounds, dished out 10 assists, and recorded five steals.  Jamaal Williams added 18 points.  Patrick Patterson, who is being heavily recruited by Kentucky, recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, six blocked shots, and four steals. 

Nathan Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Taylor Stewart added 12 points and seven rebounds.  Tyler Corvin chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.  6-8 So. Andy Donovan came off the bench to record eight points.
