Conclusion

I have attempted to give a brief recap of each game played in this camp.  I apologize in advance for any misspelled names or errors in the stats as I hurriedly transcribed the statistics from the scoresheets. This report is meant to be an overview of the camp and not an instrument for ascertaining precise individual records.  The complete statistics will be available on the Kentucky Basketball Academy website http://www.playkba.com.

The final team records were:  Team A (5-0), Team F (5-0), Team H (3-2), Team G (2-2-1), Team D (2-3), Team B (1-3-1), Team C (1-4), and Team E (0-5).

There were four award plaques given out the final day of camp.  Craig Bryant (New Albany IN) was named camp MVP.  Jaron Thomas (Tates Creek) received the best playmaker award and Bill Davis (Mercer County) was named the best rebounder.  Rob Purdiman (Reidland High) was named the best defender.

Craig Bryant is a 6-3 swingman from New Albany IN who averaged 22.2 ppg and 6 rpg in five games.  Bryant has the ability to stroke the three point shot as well as score off penetration.

5-10 Jaron Thomas (Tates Creek High School) has the ability to play either guard position.  Thomas averaged 12.0 ppg and had an outstanding 24-4 assist to turnover number.

6-10 310 pound Bill Davis (Mercer County High School) averaged 10.6 ppg and 9.8 rpg for five games.  5-9 Rob Purdiman (Reidland High) was named best defender in a very close competition.  Purdiman played excellent "D" and recorded 10 steals.

Several other players had excellent camps, capping off good seasons.  6-2 Darryl Bell (Louisville Central) averaged 19.6 ppg and 8 rpg at camp.  5-8 Brandon Kippes (New Albany IN) averaged 16.6 ppg and displayed good range on his jump shot.  Kevin Owens (Trinity), Kearney Demus (Bryan Station), Aaron Miller (Henry Clay), Dyron Carter (Tates Creek), Jesse Thompson (Scott County), and Matt Groves (Muhlenberg North) were just a few of several other players who played well this weekend.

6-0 Kevin Owens (Louisville Trinity) averaged 12.6 ppg and 7.2 rpg and proved to be a battler in the paint as he pulled down 23 offensive rebounds.  Carlos Mitchell (Fern Creek) also displayed quick hands as he recorded 12 steals.  Several other players, too many to mention them all here, played well and played extremely hard this weekend.  This is an excellent venue for players to perform and be seen.

The KBA staff did an excellent job organizing this event.  The players are all easily identified by their jersey numbers and the program makes it easy to track the players.  The games ran on schedule and the staff charted each game and should have complete statistics on their website in the near future.
