Twelve teams competed for the 2006 AAU Girls High School Junior Varsity division. The teams were divided into three pools. The pool assignments were as follows: Pool 1: Sacred Heart Academy, Eastern, Woodford County, and Buckhorn. Pool 2: Assumption, Dunbar, Franklin-Simpson*, and Pike Central. Pool 3: Mercy Academy, Letcher County Central, Franklin County, and Lexington Christian Academy.
Twenty-eight teams competed for the 2006 AAU Girls Varsity division. The teams were divided into seven pools. The pool assignments were as follows: Pool 1: Henry Clay, Boyle County, Buckhorn, and Franklin-Simpson. Pool 2: Dunbar, Sacred Heart Academy, Scott, and Pike Central. Pool 3: Lexington Catholic, Highlands, Betsy Layne, and McCreary Central*. Pool 4: Franklin County, Assumption, Notre Dame, and Pulaski County. Pool 5: Woodford County, Mercy Academy, St. Henry, and Danville*. Pool 6: Lexington Christian Academy, Iroquois*, Ryle, and East Jessamine. Pool 7: Scott County, Covington Holy Cross, South Laurel, and Central.
* McCreary Central, Danville, and Iroquois were “no-shows” and forfeited all their games in the Varsity division. Franklin-Simpson forfeited their games in the Junior Varsity division.

figures with 19 points. Keyla Snowden, Briana Green, Maggie
Wilson, and Kellie Cash added 16, 15, 13, and 10 points
respectively. Sarah Miles, Elizabeth Campbell, and
Caroline Klein led Sacred Heart Academy with 11, 11, and 10 points
respectively.

Lexington Catholic led 32-29 at halftime but pulled away in the second half to
earn the victory. Natalie Novosel appeared to slash through the
lane at will to lead the victors with 27 points. Kellie Cash and
Keyla Snowden added 16 and 13 points respectively. Pilar Walker
and Chantelle Pressley led Dunbar with 17 and 12 points respectively.

Conclusion
Congratulations to Assumption and Lexington Catholic for capturing championships in their respective divisions. Dunbar, Scott County, Sacred Heart Academy, and Lexington Catholic advanced the the final four of the Varsity Division.
