Paul Dunbar, Woodford County, Berea, Scott County, Bryan Station, Madison Central, Franklin County, and Lexington Catholic all advanced to regional play. The district winners Woodford County, Lexington Catholic, Scott County, and Madison Central all will host first round games. The semifinals and championship game will be played at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Kentucky.
Monday March 6th - Day 1
Paul Dunbar (12-16) vs. Woodford County (18-11) (at Woodford County High School)
Paul Dunbar coach Carl "Redd" Hutchinson started the following lineup: 6-7 Sr. Brandon Sok, 5-11 Fr. Nick Hudson, 6-6 Sr. Deontay Wright, 5-9 Fr. Marquis Clay, and 5-11 So. Dion Johnson. Woodford County coach Bob Gibson countered with 6-5 Sr. Chris Williams, 6-2 Jr. Graham Watts, 6-4 Sr. Ben Tuttle, 6-1 Sr. Travis Mosher, and 6-1 Sr. Jake Pennington.
Dunbar led 32-31 at halftime but Woodford County dominated the second half to take a 66-49 victory over the Bulldogs. This avenged an earlier 66-63 defeat at the hands of Dunbar but more importantly allowed the Yellowjackets to advance in the tourney. Woodford County held Dunbar to 25% field goal shooting (seven of 28) in the second half. The Yellowjackets led 53-48 with 3:26 left in the game and closed out the game with a 13-1 run. The connected on nine of 10 free throws during this period to ensure the victory.
Woodford County shot 46.5% from the field including only one of 13 from beyond the arc. The Yellowjackets connected on 25 of 28 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 17 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 36% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 10 of 13 from the free throw line and grabbed 24 rebounds.
Chris Williams led the victors with 22 points and seven rebounds. Jake Pennington added 17 points and Ben Tuttle chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds. Deontay Wright led Paul Dunbar with 13 points and five rebounds. 6-0 Sr. Delrio Webb and Brandon Sok added 11 and 10 points respectively.

Berea (15-13) vs. Scott County (24-2) (at Scott County High School)
Berea coach Mike Key started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Kyle Johnson, 5-11 Sr. Trevor Yosick, 6-2 Sr. Keith Ruxer, 5-10 Sr. Justin Broughton, and 5-10 Sr. Chris Quinley. Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Rodney Haddix, 6-3 So. Bud Mackey, 6-6 So. Jordan Lee, 5-10 Sr. Jesse Thompson, and 6-4 Jr. Matt Walls.
Scott County scored 33 points off 25 Berea turnovers and held a 30-10 advantage in bench scoring 30-10 in a 91-54 victory. Scott County shot 42% from the field including seven of 23 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 10 of 17 from free throws and pulled down 55 rebounds. They held a 34-9 advantage in second chance points. Berea shot 31.4% from the field including seven of 26 from beyond the arc. The Pirates connected on 15 of 23 free throws and grabbed 35 rebounds.
Jesse Thompson and Bud Mackey led Scott County with 15 points each. Matt Walls added 14 points and eight rebounds and Rodney Haddix chipped in with 11 points. Jordan Lee recorded six points and pulled down nine rebounds. Chris Quinley led Berea with 15 points and Keith Ruxer added eight points and eight rebounds.

Tuesday March 7th - Day 2
Bryan Station (20-9) vs. Madison Central (22-7) (at Madison Central High School)
Bryan Station coach Champ Ligon started the following lineup 6-3 Jr. Stefan Lewis, 6-2 So. Dacoby Burnett, 6-5 Jr. Jaron Jones, 5-11 Sr. De’ire Foxx, and 6-2 So. Shelvin Mack. Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus, Jr. countered with 6-4 Jr. Rob Newman, 6-0 Sr. Matt Lowery, 6-5 So. Aaron Morris, 6-2 Jr. Duane Fields, and 5-8 Sr. Andrew Mathis.
Madison Central upset Bryan Station 66-61 to advance in the tournament. The Indians led 42-31 with 3:21 left in the third quarter but Bryan Station went on a 16-0 run to to take a 47-42 lead with 6:23 left in the game. Madison Central trailed 49-43 but went on a 10-0 run to take a 53-49 lead with 3:23 left in the game. The Indians held on for the victory.
This was a game in which neither team could hit the basket either from the field or the free throw line. Madison Central shot 36% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc. They only connected on 24 of 45 free throws and pulled down 44 rebounds. Bryan Station shot 30.4% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line. The Defenders connected on 17 of 35 from the free throw line and grabbed 52 rebounds.
Duane Fields paced the victors with 19 points. Aaron Morris added 17 points but was only 11 of 25 from the free throw line. Morris also pulled down 14 rebounds. Shelvin Mack led Bryan Station with 29 points and 12 rebounds. Stefan Lewis only recorded seven points but pulled down 16 rebounds.

Franklin County (16-11) vs. Lexington Catholic (22-6) (at Lexington Catholic High School)
Franklin County coach Scott Chalk started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Houston Hardy, 6-0 Sr. Cameron Conner, 6-5 Sr. Chase Straw, 5-10 Sr. John Meyer, and 6-0 Jr. Kaelin Ammons. Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-4 Sr. Mike Heissenbuttel, 6-5 So. Taylor Stewart, 6-5 So. Nathan Novosel, 5-10 Sr. Arian Green, and 6-3 Sr. Brian Hewitt.
Lexington Catholic defeated Franklin County 67-53. Franklin County jumped out to a 10-1 lead and led 18-13 after the first quarter. The Knights rallied to lead 32-31 at the half and increased their lead to 49-39 at the end of three quarters. Franklin County cut the deficit to four, 55-51, with 4:09 left in the game but Lexington Catholic closed out the scoring with a 12-2 run.
Lexington Catholic shot 38.7% from the field including only one of 12 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on 18 of 24 free throws and pulled down 43 rebounds. They scored 21 points off 21 Franklin County turnovers and held a 28-15 advantage in bench scoring. Franklin County shot 35.3% from the field including five of 16 from the three point line. The Flyers connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Nathan Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 22 points and 15 rebounds. 6-0 Sr. Cornell Burbage, 6-2 Jr. Zach Newton, and 6-3 Sr. Justin Burke came off the bench to add nine, nine, and eight points respectively. John Meyer led Franklin County with 15 points including four three point baskets. Cameron Conner added 12 points and Chase Straw chipped in with six points and eight rebounds.

Lexington Catholic (23-6) vs. Scott County (25-4) Semifinal No. 1
Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Mike Heissenbuttel, 6-5 So. Taylor Stewart, 6-5 So. Nathan Novosel, 5-10 Sr. Arian Green, and 6-3 Sr. Brian Hewitt. Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Rodney Haddix, 6-3 So. Bud Mackey, 6-6 So. Jordan Lee, 5-10 Sr. Jesse Thompson, and 6-4 Jr. Matt Walls.
Scott County held a 53-33 advantage in rebounds in a 57-47 victory over a cold shooting Lexington Catholic squad. Lexington Catholic trailed 28-25 at halftime but only shot 22.9% from the field in the second half including one of 15 from beyond the arc.
Scott County shot 36.5% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line. The Cardinals connected on 16 of 25 free throws. Lexington Catholic shot 25.9% from the field, including only three of 23 from beyond the arc. The Knights connected on 14 of 18 free throws. Two of Lexington Catholic’s premier perimeter marksmen Brian Hewitt and Zach Newton could only combine for three of 25 from the field.
Rodney Haddix led the victors with 17 points and 14 rebounds. Matt Walls, Bud Mackey, and Jordan Lee added 11 points each. Lee and Walls pulled down 10 and eight rebounds respectively. Brian Hewitt and Nathan Novosel led Lexington Catholic with nine points each. 6-3 Sr. Justin Burke only recorded five points but pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Madison Central finally took the lead for good 59-57 with 2:02 remaining in the game and held on for a 66-65 victory over Woodford County. The Indians trailed 57-56 until 6-1 Fr. Keshawn Simpson scored on a putback basket and free throw to take the lead.
Madison Central shot 43.3% from the field including only one of 14 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on 27 of 39 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 11 Woodford County turnovers. They held a 33-13 advantage in bench scoring. Woodford County shot 37.1% from the field including 10 of 23 from the three point line. The Yellowjackets only visited the free throw line 13 times, connecting on nine shots, and pulled down 26 rebounds. Woodford County scored 17 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.
Keshawn Simpson led the victors with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Duane Fields added 12 points and Aaron Morris chipped in with 11 points and nine rebounds. 5-11 Sr. Will Reynolds also recorded 11 points. Chris Williams led Woodford County with 23 points including three three point baskets and nine rebounds. Jake Pennington added 19 points including five three point baskets and 6-3 Sr. Chris Denney chipped in with 10 points and five rebounds.

Madison Central (24-7) vs. Scott County (26-4) Championship Game
Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus, Jr. started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Rob Newman, 6-0 Sr. Matt Lowery, 6-5 So. Aaron Morris, 6-2 Jr. Duane Fields, and 5-8 Sr. Andrew Mathis. Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Rodney Haddix, 6-3 So. Bud Mackey, 6-6 So. Jordan Lee, 5-10 Sr. Jesse Thompson, and 6-4 Jr. Matt Walls.
Madison Central’s Duane Fields nailed a three pointer at the buzzer to give the Indians a 60-57 victory over Scott County. The Cardinals led 47-35 at the end of three quarters before Madison Central rallied to take a 57-55 lead with 38 seconds remaining in the game. Bud Mackey hit two free throws with 14 seconds remaining in the game to tie the score at 57, setting the stage for Fields’ heroics.
Madison Central shot 40% from the field including six of 17 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on 18 of 30 free throws and pulled down 29 rebounds. They held a 17-2 advantage in bench scoring. Scott County shot 43.4% from the field including zero of 11 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on 11 of 13 free throws and grabbed 36 rebounds.
Aaron Morris led Madison Central with 19 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Mathis and Duane Fields added 13 and 11 points respectively. 5-11 Sr. Will Reynolds and 6-1 Fr. Keshawn Simpson recorded eight points each with Simpson pulling down nine rebounds. Rodney Haddix led Scott County with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Bud Mackey added 19 points and Matt Walls chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds.

Conclusion
Congratulations to the Madison Central Indians and Coach Allen Feldhaus, Jr.
the for capturing the 11th Region title. Madison Central returns
to the “big show” for the first time since 1999. The Indians defeated
three excellent teams, Bryan Station, Woodford County, and Scott County to
capture the crown.
Also congratulations to Coach Billy Hicks and the Scott
County Cardinals for an excellent season. The Cardinals defeated Henry
Clay and Bryan Station in district play and Berea and Lexington Catholic before
coming up three points short against Madison Central tonight.
