Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles started the following lineup: 6-4 So. Aaron Boyd, 6-2 Sr. Aaron Miller, 6-4 So. Victor Moses, 5-11 Jr. Chase Minnifield, and 6-2 Sr. Aaron Dunaway. Tates Creek coach Joe Pat Covington countered with 6-5 Sr. Patrick Workman, 6-2 So. Michael Sparks, 6-6 Sr. Pete Nochta, 5-10 So. Mike Spalding, and 5-10 Sr. Jaron Thomas.
Henry Clay captured a 65-61 thriller over Tates Creek tonight. Tates Creek led by a score of 31-27 at halftime. Henry Clay rallied in the third quarter behind 15 points by Aaron Dunaway to lead 50-43 at the end of the quarter. The Blue Devils increased their margin to 14, 58-44 with 3:02 remaining in the game. Tates Creek mounted a furious rally to tie the score at 59-59 with 41 seconds remaining on the clock. Victor Moses hit a layup to give Henry Clay a 61-59 lead with 30 seconds remaining and the Blue Devils hit their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
Henry Clay shot 52.4% from the field, connected on 11 of 18 free throws and pulled down 36 rebounds. Henry Clay scored 24 points off 21 Tates Creek turnovers. Tates Creek shot 51% from the field, connected on nine of 18 free throws and grabbed 20 rebounds. The Commodores scored 28 points off 29 Henry Clay turnovers.
Aaron Dunaway led Henry Clay with 29 points. Victor Moses and Aaron Miller added 15 and 10 points respectively. Mike Spalding led Tates Creek with 14 points. Patrick Workman and Michael Sparks added 11 points each.
