Bryan Station (17-8) vs. Henry Clay (18-7)

Bryan Station coach Champ Ligon started the following lineup:  6-3 Jr. Stefan Lewis, 6-2 So. Dacoby Burnett, 6-5 Jr. Jaron Jones, 5-11 Sr. De’ire Foxx, and 6-2 So. Shelvin Mack.  Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles countered with 6-4 So. Aaron Boyd, 6-2 Sr. Aaron Miller, 6-4 So. Victor Moses, 5-11 Jr. Chase Minnifield, and 6-2 Sr. Aaron Dunaway.

Bryan Station scrapped and hustled their way to a 75-67 victory over Henry Clay tonight.  Bryan Station scored 27 points off 19 Henry Clay turnovers and enjoyed a 22-11 advantage in second chance points.

Henry Clay led 20-12 late in the first quarter but Bryan Station’s Courtney Embry nailed a late three pointer to cut the deficit to five, 20-15 at the end of the first quarter.  The Blue Devils led 25-19 in the second quarter but Bryan Station went on a 14-0 run to take a 33-25 lead and eventually take a 39-30 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Bryan Station held a 51-48 lead entering the final quarter as Henry Clay outscored the Defenders 18-12 in the third quarter.  Henry Clay actually took a 56-54 lead with 6:38 remaining in the game but Bryan Station quickly regained control.  The Defenders led 63-61 with 3:06 remaining in the game when De’ire Foxx stole the ball and scored a layup to give Bryan Station a 65-61 lead, a lead they would never relinquish.  There were five lead changes and six ties during the game.

Bryan Station shot 38.6% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Defenders connected on 19 of 30 free throws and pulled down 43 rebounds—23 on the offensive end.  Henry Clay shot 47.3% from the field, including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 10 of 14 free throws, and pulled down 32 rebounds—only 10 of the rebounds on the offensive end.

Shelvin Mack led Bryan Station with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Jaron Jones added 16 points, eight rebounds, and four steals.  Dacoby Burnett chipped in with 12 points and eight rebounds.  Stefan Lewis and 6-1 Jr. Courtney Embry also reached double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.  Aaron Miller led Henry Clay with 21 points and eight rebounds.  Aaron Dunaway added 19 points and seven rebounds.  Victor Moses chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.
