Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles started the following lineup: 6-4 So. Aaron Boyd, 6-2 Sr. Aaron Miller, 6-4 So. Victor Moses, 5-10 Jr. Travis Bowman, and 6-2 Sr. Aaron Dunaway. Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Rodney Haddix, 6-3 So. Bud Mackey, 6-6 So. Jordan Lee, 5-10 Sr. Jesse Thompson, and 6-4 Jr. Matt Walls.
Scott County made their debut in the 11th Region a huge success as they routed Henry Clay by a score of 94-72. The Cardinals used their trapping defense and deep bench to wear down the Blue Devils and take a 51-36 halftime lead. Henry Clay was never in the game as Scott County took a 2-1 lead and never threatened.
Scott County shot 47.9% from the field, connected on 21 of 25 free throws, and pulled down 44 rebounds. The Cardinals scored 30 points off 25 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay shot 38.3% from the field, connected on 24 of 32 free throws, and grabbed 35 rebounds. Henry Clay scored 24 points off 20 Scott County turnovers.
Rodney Haddix had a “monster” game for Scott County tonight with 30 points including three three point baskets and 11 rebounds. Matt Walls and Jesse Thompson added 15 and 10 points respectively. Aaron Miller led Henry Clay with 20 points. Victor Moses added 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. 5-11 Jr. Chase Minnifield, Aaron Boyd, and Aaron Dunaway chipped in with 12, 11, and 10 points respectively.
