Congratulations to Lexington Catholic AD/Coach Greg Todd and the tournament sponsors for putting together such a first class event.  Also, congratulations to coach Todd and the Lady Knights on capturing the championship—they are as good as advertised.

I believe this tourney clearly establishes Lexington Catholic as one of the top contenders for the state championship.  However, there are other worthy contenders capable of winning the championship.  There were several excellent teams and too many players to mention here.  The “stars” lived up to their sizeable reputations and it was great to see stars and future stars from all parts of the state this week.  The players of the All Tournament Team were very deserving, but for a tournament of this size and caliber there were several other players who easily could have made the team.

I appreciate the hospitality extended me by Greg Todd and his staff.  Also a special debt of gratitude to Glenn Gentry and Gary Long (Lexington Catholic) and Bob Tonini (Sacred Heart Academy) for providing stats for this tourney.   As usual, I enjoyed visiting with Louis Meadows and Chris Lovelace–true fans of the ladies’ game in Kentucky.  This is an outstanding tournament and a real “must-see” event.

Please feel free to send your comments and questions concerning the tournament, teams, or players to me at prephoops@yahoo.com .

Ron Harrison’s reports on this and other basketball events appear on http://www.kyprephoops.com.
