Note: I only provided scores for the pool games, main tournament brackets, and the third and fifth place games. There were numerous other games played in the consolation bracket, far too many to include in this report. There were approximately 121 games in 11U and 162 games in 12U including pool games, winners brackets, and consolation brackets.
Conclusion
This was an exciting week of basketball concluding with two national champions being crowned. There were teams from Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Texas.
This event was extremely well organized and well attended. An event of this magnitude brings in a lot of talented performers, a host of devoted fans, and pumps a lot of money into the local economy. The KBA staff was up to this monumental task and displayed the ability and professionalism to host national championships and hopefully will host many more in the future.
I have attempted to give a brief overview of this event and apologize in
advance for any inaccuracies or misspelling of names in this report. This
report is meant to be used for entertainment and not for ascertaining either
team or individual records.
Acknowledgments
A special thanks to the staff at the Kentucky Basketball Academy. It has been a long hard summer of basketball events and I regard the staff as my colleagues, my friends, and as my second family. The AAU campaign is tiring but rewarding, and even though I am ready for a brief rest I would not have wished to miss a single game. I do not possess a crystal ball but hopefully next summer will be just as busy and just as enjoyable.
Please feel free to send your comments and questions concerning the tournament, teams, or players to me at prephoops@yahoo.com .
