Sacred Heart Academy (17-4) at Tates Creek (15-3) (Girls)
Sacred Heart Academy coach Donna Moir started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Taylor Kopple, 5-9 Sr. Jackie Distler, 5-9 Sr. Kelsey McCarty, 5-4 Sr. Jordan Hess, and 5-8 Sr. Carly Ormerod. Tates Creek coach Jan Ulmer countered with 6-1 Sr. Kristen Pendleton, 5-7 Sr. Derrica Morton, 6-2 Sr. Brittany Pittman, 5-4 Sr. Ginneria Harley, and 5-7 Sr. Philnisha Lindsey.
Sacred Heart broke a two-game losing streak with a 37-34 victory in a game in which neither team could hit the basket. Tates Creek hot 25% from the field and Sacred Heart could only manage 23.7% field goal accuracy. Sacred Heart trailed 27-24 entering the final quarter but went on a 9-0 run to lead the Lady Commodores 33-27 late in the game. The Valkyries had to withstand a late rally in which Tates Creek cut the deficit to one point with less than 30 seconds remaining in the game. 5-5 Sr. Allison Denbow hit a field goal on a rebound shot to ensure the victory.
Sacred Heart connected on eight of 16 free throws and pulled down 46 rebounds. The Valkyries scored 17 points off 17 Lexington Catholic turnovers. Tates Creek connected on nine of 19 free throws and grabbed 42 rebounds.
Carly Ormerod led Sacred Heart with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor Kopple added eight points and 16 rebounds. Philnisha Lindsey led Tates Creek with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Brittany Pittman added five points, eight rebounds, and nine blocked five shots. Derrica Morton added four points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
