Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Adaeze Azubuike, 6-0 Jr. Anaris Sickles, 6-1 Sr. Shannon Novosel, 5-6 So. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 Jr. Nikki Davis. Assumption coaches Bob and Martha Todd countered with 6-0 So. Thia Gholson, 5-11 Jr. Kelly Mitchell, 6-1 Jr. Amber Norton, 5-8 Sr. Kelly Miller, and 5-8 So. Eileen Kennedy.
Lexington Catholic raced out to a 25-10 first quarter lead and scored 34 points off 25 Assumption turnovers in a 78-44 victory. Lexington Catholic used 13 players tonight with playing time ranging from 3:27 to 23:09 minutes. Nine players cracked the scoring column with five Lady Knights scoring in double figures.
The victors shot 47.8% from the field, connected on 14 of 19 free throws and pulled down 43 rebounds. Assumption shot 32.6% from the field connected on 12 of 19 free throws and grabbed 30 rebounds. Lexington Catholic held a 24-5 advantage in bench scoring.
Nikki Davis led Lexington Catholic with 15 points, eight rebounds, and five steals. Keyla Snowden and Shannon Novosel added 13 points each. Anaris Sickles added 10 points and nine rebounds, while 5-10 Fr. Natalie Novosel chipped in with 10 points. Eileen Kennedy led Assumption with 14 points. Amber Norton chipped in with 10 points.
