Scott County (21-3) vs. Tates Creek (11-13)
The Scott County coaching staff started the following lineup: 6-3 So. Rodney Haddix, 6-3 Fr. Bud Mackey, 7-2 Sr. Jared Carter, 5-10 Jr. Jesse Thompson, and 6-3 So. Matt Walls. Tates Creek coach Joe Pat Covington countered with 6-4 So. John Watkins, 6-0 Jr. Abe Mashni, 6-6 Jr. Pete Nochta, 5-11 Jr. Dyron Carter, and 6-2 Fr. Michael Sparks.
Scott County pulled away from a 50-50 tie in the final quarter to defeat a determined Tates Creek squad by a score of 74-61. Tates Creek led 28-16 with 3:20 remaining in the first half before Scott County rallied to tie the game 34-34 at halftime. The game remained close throughout the third quarter with Scott County holding a 50-48 lead entering the final period. The Cardinals finally got a little breathing room in the final period, led by Rodnay Haddix's 10 points and six points by Daniel Durr. Scott County outscored Tates Creek 24-13 in the final period for the final score of 74-61.
Scott County shot 42.2% from the field, connected on 17 of 23 free throws, and pulled down 48 rebounds. Tates Creek shot 42.4% from the field, connected on 11 of 21 free throws, and grabbed 32 rebounds.
Rodney Haddix led Scott County with 31 points and eight rebounds. Haddix connected on 12 of 15 free throws. Jared Carter added 17 points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots. 6-3 Sr. Daniel Durr came off the bench to add 12 points and eight rebounds. Tates Creek was led by John Watkins and 5-8 Jr. Nash Baldwin with 17 points each. Dyron Carter added 11 points and Michael Sparks chipped in with nine points. 6-5 Jr. Patrick Workman only tallied four points but pulled down 10 rebounds.
