Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Bryan Turnage, 6-3 Fr. Aaron Boyd, 6-2 Jr. Aaron Miller, 5-9 Sr. Noade Day, and 6-3 Jr. Aaron Dunaway. Tates Creek coach Joe Pat Covington countered with 6-5 Jr. Patrick Workman, 6-4 So. John Watkins, 6-6 Jr. Pete Nochta, 5-10 Jr. Drew Williams, and 6-2 Fr. Michael Sparks.
Henry Clay went on a 17-0 run in the first half to erase a 17-7 deficit on their way to a 73-55 victory over Tates Creek. Nothing came easy for the Blue Devils in their fourteenth consecutive victory. Jr. star Aaron Dunaway picked up two early fouls and missed his first nine shots from the field before unleashing a 13 point barrage in the final quarter. Henry Clay held a narrow 45-40 lead at the end of three quarters but outscored Tates Creek 28-15 in the final period.
Henry Clay shot 50.9% from the field including 70.4% in the second half. The Blue Devils connected on 14 of 21 free throws and pulled down 38 rebounds. Tates Creek shot 40% from the field, connected on four of 12 free throws and grabbed 34 rebounds.
Aaron Miller led the victors with 21 points. Aaron Dunaway and 6-3 Fr. Victor Moses added 15 and 11 points respectively. Bryan Turnage added nine points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Turnage also brought the crowd to its feet with a one-hand slam on a fast break in the final period. Tates Creek was led tonight by Michael Sparks and 5-11 Jr. Dyron Carter with 10 and nine points respectively.
