Rowan County coach Troy Thomas started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Molly McCleese, 5-7 Fr. Nicole Barr, 6-3 Jr. Suzanne Brown, 5-7 Fr. Cassidi Spurlock, and 5-10 Sr. Melanie Cornett. Central coach Damon Cobble countered with 5-11 Sr. Danielle Bonds, 5-8 Sr. LaSasha Hamilton-Sloss, 6-2 Sr. Ciara Gibbs, 4-9 Sr. Tiffany Taylor, and 5-1 Jr. Donisha Richardson.
The Lady Vikings of Rowan County shot 48.7% from the field, including five of six three point attempts, in a 55-47 victory over Central. This was an especially satisfying victory as they are missing several players due to injuries. Central attempted 16 more shots from the field than Rowan County but Rowan County had one more field goal.
Rowan County connected on 12 of 16 free throws and pulled down 31 rebounds. Central shot 32.7% from the field, connected on five of eight free throws and pulled down 30 rebounds. Central scored 21 points off 23 Rowan County turnovers. Central also held a 16-6 advantage in bench scoring.
Melanie Cornett led Rowan County with 19 points and nine rebounds. Molly McCleese and Nicole Barr added nine points each. Donisha Richardson led Central with 15 points. Ciara Gibbs added 12 points and nine rebounds. LaSasha Hamilton-Sloss chipped in with 11 points.

Christian Academy coach Don Rice countered with 6-2 Sr. Maggie McKemie, 5-9 Sr. Kristen Blake, 6-4 Sr. Ashley Fishback, 5-8 Sr. Jessie Marshall, and 5-7 Jr. Meredith Marsh.
Scott County trailed 14-6 at the end of the first quarter but rallied to take a 26-21 halftime lead on their way to a 58-50 victory over CAL. Scott County shot 40.4% from the field, connected on 14 of 16 free throws, and pulled down 43 rebounds. CAL shot 30.4% from the field, was 10 of 16 from the free throw line, and grabbed 32 rebounds.
Chelsia Lymon led Scott County with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Suzie Owens added 12 points and pulled down 13 rebounds while Michelle Howard chipped in with 10 points. Meredith Marsh led Christian Academy with 34 points including six of nine from beyond the arc. Maggie McKemie was held to four points but pulled down 12 rebounds.

This game came at a cost to the Lady Cardinals as 5-4 Fr. sparkplug Kayla Moses left the game with an injury. Hopefully Moses will be able to return to action soon.
Game No. 3 Mercer County (16-2) vs. Butler (12-5)
Mercer County coach Chris Souder started the following lineup: 5-10 Jr. Lindsey Alford, 5-9 Sr. Jillian Horn, 5-3 Jr. Chrystal Claunch, 5-7 Jr. Chelsea Goodman, and 5-7 Sr. Erin Ashford. Butler coach Terri Keown countered with 5-8 Fr. Brittany Harris, 5-5 Sr. Jessica Paul, 5-8 Fr. Tia Gibbs, 5-7 Sr. Dana Price, and 5-3 Jr. Nicole Holman.
Mercer County eked out a close 68-63 decision over Butler today. Mercer County shot 44.4% from the field, including seven of 12 from the three point line. The Lady Scotties connected on 21 of 26 free throws and pulled down 35 rebounds. Mercer County held a 15-0 advantage in bench scoring. Butler shot 47.3% from the floor, including six of 18 from beyond the arc, connected on five of 12 free throws and pulled down 28 rebounds. Butler scored 29 points off 23 Mercer County turnovers. Butler committed 20 turnovers but Mercer County could only capitalize for 14 points.
Erin Ashford led Mercer County with 15 points. Chrystal Claunch and Lindsey Alford added 14 points each. 6-0 Sr. Erica Lee chipped in with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Nicole Holman led Butler with 22 points. Tia Gibbs added 16 points, six rebounds, and six steals. Brittany Harris added 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds.

Ballard scored 27 points off 24 Greenwood turnovers in a 64-42 victory. Ballard shot 42.1% from the field, connected on nine of 16 free throws and pulled down 32 rebounds. Greenwood could only manage 29.7% from the field, was 16 of 22 from the free throw line and grabbed 33 rebounds.
Erin Rodgers led Ballard with 21 points including five three point baskets Reena Haliburton added 10 points and Alicia Bunton chipped in with nine points, 10 rebounds, and nine blocked shots. Angela Kitchens and Katie Sanderson led Greenwood with 16 and 11 points respectively. Cali Carter was held to four points but pulled down 10 rebounds.

Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans countered with 5-8 Jr. Melissa Schindler, 5-7 Jr. Mallory Luckett, 5-10 Sr. Sha’Lori Moore, 5-8 Sr. Courtney Hall, and 5-11 Jr. Jenny Petrie.
Mercy held a 16-8 advantage in free throw points and played excellent defense in a 63-57 victory over Henderson County. Mercy shot 47.8% from the field, connected on 16 of 27 free throws and pulled down 45 rebounds. The Jaguars also held a 15-6 advantage in second chance points. Henderson County shot 34.8% from the field, was eight of 18 from the free throw line, and grabbed 36 rebounds.
Sha’Lori Moore had a great game for Mercy as she tallied 21 and 19 rebounds. Courtney Hall and Jenny Petrie added 15 and 11 points respectively. Whitney Waddell led Henderson County with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Krista Hatfield and Ashley Hawkins added 15 and 11 points respectively.

Rockcastle County held a 38-24 advantage in rebounds and an 18-3 advantage in three point points in a 55-40 victory over Assumption. Rockcastle County shot 41.9% from the field including six of 16 from beyond the arc and 13 of 16 from the free throw line. Assumption shot 31.4% from the field and connected on seven of nine free throws. Assumption scored 24 points off 20 Rockcastle County turnovers.
Johnna Abney led the victors with 18 points including three three point baskets and added seven rebounds. Tara Rowe added 14 points and also nailed three baskets from beyond the arc. Heather Hammond chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds. Kelly Mitchell led Assumption with 12 points. Amber Norton added 10 points and six rebounds.

Sacred Heart led 37-29 at halftime but Clinton County rallied to take a 41-39 lead before Sacred Heart regained momentum to claim a 72-61 victory. Sacred Heart shot 56.9% from the field, connected on 11 of 17 free throws, and pulled down 23 rebounds. The Valkyries also scored 26 points off 17 Clinton County turnovers. Clinton County shot 47.6% from the field, including six of 15 from the three point line. Clinton County connected on 15 of 16 free throws and grabbed 26 rebounds.
Carly Ormerod led Sacred Heart with 24 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Taylor Kopple added 17 points and seven rebounds, while Jackie Distler chipped in with 11 points. Paige Guffey led Clinton County with 20 points including five three point baskets. Amber Guffey added 16 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Dorothy Papineau chipped in with 13 points.

New Albany shot 30.5% from the field, connected on 12 of 21 free throws, and grabbed 47 rebounds.
Anaris Sickles and Nikki Davis led the victors with 15 points each. Shannon Novosel added 12 points, and 5-10 Fr. Natalie Novosel chipped in with seven points and 10 rebounds. Trisha Bennett led New Albany with 14 points. Stephanie Lynch added 13 points, 17 rebounds, three blocked shots, and four steals.

Congratulations to the KPP staff and the sponsors for putting together an outstanding day of basketball. A portion of the proceeds made at this event will go to Face Forward, Kentuckiana! This organization is a support group for families affected by cleft lip, cleft palate, and other problems related to craniofacial development.
