Woodford County coach Jay Lucas started the following lineup: 5-7 Jr. Nikki Bryant, 5-7 Jr. Amber Penny, 5-11 Sr. Emily Freibert, 5-7 Jr. Brittany Henderlight, and 5-7 8th grader Katy Cooke. Tates Creek coach Jan Ulmer countered with 6-2 Sr. Kristen Pendleton, 5-8 Sr. Shaquita Dowlen, 6-2 Sr. Brittany Pittman, 5-7 Sr. Derrica Morton, and 5-7 Sr. Philneshia Lindsey.
Tates Creek overcame a 38-24 deficit in the third quarter to edge Woodford County 48-47 in a thriller. Tates Creek started their comeback in the third quarter. They took a 42-40 lead on a basket by Kristen Pendleton and extended the lead to 47-40 before Woodford County scored their first points of the quarter with 2:10 remaining in the game. Woodford County rallied to within one, 48-47, and received the ball back when Tates Creek was guilty of an endline violation with 0.8 seconds remaining on the clock. Kristen Pendleton blocked a shot at the buzzer to ensure the victory.
The victors were led tonight by Philneshia Lindsey and Brittany Pittman with 15 points each. Pittman was also a force on the boards as she pulled down at least nine rebounds. Kristen Pendleton recorded six points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Brittany Henderlight and Amber Penny led Woodford County with 17 and 10 points respectively. 5-9 Sr. Destiny Mattingly was slowed by an injury tonight but she managed seven points.
