Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Bryan Turnage, 6-2 Jr. Aaron Miller, 6-3 Fr. Aaron Boyd, 5-9 Sr. Noade Day, and 6-2 Jr. Aaron Dunaway. Paul Dunbar coach Eddie Oakley countered with 6-1 Sr. Andre Tunstill, 5-10 Sr. Leonard Epps, 6-1 Sr. Dustin Fox, 5-10 Fr. Dion Johnson, and 5-9 Sr. Jessie Moton.
Paul Dunbar trailed by as many as 10, 30-20, in the first half but rallied for a 66-64 victory over Henry Clay. Henry Clay had the last possession and the opportunity to tie or win but four shots in the closing seconds were off target. The victors shot 47.8% from the field, including seven of 12 from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs were 15 of 19 from the free throw line. Henry Clay shot 37.5% from the field, including six of 23 from the three point line, and was 10 of 18 from the free throw line.
Paul Dunbar was led by Jessie Moton with 20 points. Dustin Fox added 17 points including three three point baskets. Andre Tunstill also tallied 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Aaron Dunaway led Dunbar with 23 points including three baskets from beyond the arc. Noade Day added 12 points and Aaron Miller chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds. Bryan Turnage added nine points, pulled down 10 rebounds, and dished out five assists.
