East Jessamine coach Ralph Sallee started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Ruth Byrd, 5-5 Jr. Jessica Marshall, 5-11 8th grader Clara Mitchell, 5-6 Fr. Krichelle Ford, and 5-3 Sr. LaToya Richardson. Lafayette coach Allison Tate Denton countered with 6-1 Sr. Lori Colson, 5-9 Sr. Lucy Clark, 6-0 Sr. Courtney Chenault, 5-7 Sr. Catie Morris, and 5-6 Jr. Katie Kelly.
Lafayette trailed 60-57 in the fourth quarter but rallied to defeat East Jessamine by a score of 69-65. East Jessamine’s LaToya Richardson got off to a torrid start as she scored 17 of her team’s first 29 points as they took a 31-21 lead in the second quarter. Lafayette then went on a 14-0 run to lead 35-31 on their way to a 37-33 halftime lead. East Jessamine rallied in the third quarter to lead 50-46 at the end of the quarter. East Jessamine led 60-57 in the final period but Lafayette scored eight consecutive points to take a 65-60 advantage—a lead they would not relinquish. East Jessamine was hampered by fouls tonight as they lost two starters, Ruth Byrd and Clara Mitchell via the foul route.
Lafayette was led tonight by Lucy Clark with 17 points including 12 in the final quarter. Lori Colson recorded a double-double as she scored 16 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. 5-5 So. Cassandra Lawson and Catie Morris added 15 and 11 points respectively. Courtney Chenault pulled down a team-high 12 rebounds. East Jessamine was led tonight by LaToya Richardson with 18 points including five three point baskets. Clara Mitchell added 12 points and was aggressive on the boards, while Jessica Marshall chipped in with 11 points.
