Tates Creek (18-6) at Scott County (19-4)
Tates Creek coach Jan Ulmer-Hintz started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Kristen Pendleton, 5-8 Jr. Shaquita Dowlen, 6-2 Jr. Brittany Pittman, 5-7 Jr. Derrica Morton, and 5-7 Jr. Philneshia Lindsey. Scott County coach Steve Helton countered with 6-1 Fr. Holly Milburn, 5-10 Fr. Rebecca Gray, 6-0 Jr. Aimee Bruckner, 5-5 Sr. Jennifer Whaley, and 5-6 So. Chelsia Lymon.
Scott County let by a narrow margin (43-40) at the end of three quarters but pulled away in the final period to take a 64-54 victory over Tates Creek. Tates Creek raced out to an early 15-4 lead before Chelsia Lymon nailed a three point goal at the buzzer to cut the deficit to eight, 15-7, at the end of the first quarter. Scott County increased the defensive pressure in the second quarter and behind seven second quarter points by 5-4 8th grade Kayla Moses took a 26-25 lead at halftime.
Tates Creek took a 37-34 lead in the third quarter before Scott County rallied to take a 43-40 lead after three quarters of action. Rebecca Gray scored nine points in the period to pace the Lady Cardinals. Gray also scored nine points in the final quarter including eight free throws down the stretch to help Scott County secure a 64-54 victory.
Rebecca Gray led Scott County tonight with 23 points. Chelsia Lymon and Kayla Moses added 12 points each. 5-9 So. Ausha Weathers continued her excellent play coming off the bench with 10 points. Aimee Bruckner added five points and she pulled down eight rebounds. Brittany Pittman led Tates Creek with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Philneshia Lindsey and Shaquita Dowlen added 15 and 11 points respectively. Kristen Pendleton added five points and pulled down 15 rebounds.
