Wayne County (15-5) vs. Lexington Catholic (14-7)
Wayne County coach Tim Pyles started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Ashley Bell, 5-8 Sr. Natalie Brown, 6-0 Sr. Sarah Wixson, 5-9 So. Latoyia Green, and 5-7 Sr. Kenita Ball. Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 6-0 So. Anaris Sickles, 5-8 Jr. Lesley Server, 6-1 Jr. Shannon Novosel, 5-7 Fr. Keyla Snowden, and 5-8 So. Nikki Davis.
Lexington Catholic led 26-19 at the half but outscored Wayne County 19-4 in the third quarter on their way to a 56-35 victory. Wayne County Jr. star Ashley Bell was hampered by foul problems tonight as she picked up three fouls in the first quarter. She was limited to 22 minutes of playing time. Lexington Catholic shot 51% from the field, only visited the free throw line twice, connecting on both shots, and pulled down 37 rebounds. Wayne County shot 30.3% from the field, was 10 of 17 from the free throw line, and pulled down 18 rebounds.
Lexington Catholic scored 16 points off 25 Wayne County turnovers while Wayne County scored 14 points off 20 Lexington Catholic miscues. Wayne County held a 15-6 advantage in three point points.
Shannon Novosel led Lexington Catholic with 16 points and nine rebounds. Anaris Sickles added 12 points and Lesley Server chipped in with nine points. Nikki Davis tallied eight points, pulled down six rebounds, and recorded seven steals. Keyla Snowden added five points and dished out nine assists. Wayne County was led Ashley Bell with 14 points. Latoyia Green and Kenita Ball added eight and seven points respectively.
