Lafayette (12-8) at Tates Creek (13-9)
Lafayette coach Damon Kelley started the following lineup: 6-4 Jr. Blake Miller, 6-0 Jr. T. J. Chinn, 6-6 Sr. Nic Mullins, 6-0 So. Pete Gifford, and 6-1 Sr. Marcus Barron. Tates Creek coach Joe Pat Covington countered with 6-4 So. Patrick Workman, 6-3 Sr. Justin Taylor, 6-5 Sr. Dwight Harris, 6-2 Sr. Cameron Cross, and 5-10 Sr. Jeremy Brown.
Tates Creek held a 57-55 lead with 1:19 remaining on the clock but Lafayette’s Marcus Barron nailed a three pointer to give Lafayette a 58-57 lead with 41 seconds remaining on the clock. Lafayette made some defensive stops down the stretch to preserve a 59-57 victory. This victory clinched the regular season district title for the Generals. Lafayette shot 44.4% from the field, was seven of 15 from the free throw line, and pulled down 42 rebounds. Tates Creek shot 45.1% from the field, connected on eight of 14 free throws, and grabbed 22 rebounds.
Nic Mullins led Lafayette with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and two steals. Marcus Barron added 13 points and seven rebounds. 6-8 Sr. Darnell Dialls, who has been suffering from back spasms, added 10 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Justin Taylor led Tates Creek with 26 points. Cameron Cross added nine points and 6-5 So. Pete Nochta was impressive off the bench with four points and eight rebounds.
