Bryan Station coach Champ Ligon started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Alex Harless, 6-1 Jr. Martin Ashford, 6-5 Sr. Jermaine Sandusky, 5-7 Jr. Tino Washington, and 5-9 Jr. D. J. Adams. Lafayette coach Damon Kelley countered with 6-6 Sr. Nic Mullins, 6-4 Jr. Blake Miller, 6-8 Sr. Darnell Dialls, 6-0 Jr. T. J. Chinn, and 6-1 Sr. Marcus Barron.
Bryan Station rallied from an 11 point deficit in the second quarter to capture a big city win over Lafayette by a score of 89-80. Bryan Station held a 50%-45.9% field goal advantage and was 30 of 39 from the free throw line, while Lafayette visited the charity stripe 27 times, connecting on 17 shots. Lafayette was whistled for 25 personal fouls while Bryan Station was called for 21 fouls. Lafayette lost three starters tonight (Chinn, Barron, and Mullins) through the foul route and Dialls minutes were limited due to foul problems. Bryan Station’s Jermaine Sandusky had four fouls for the evening and was limited to 14:23 playing time tonight.
The victors had five players in double figures, led by Alex Harless with 19 points. Tino Washington added 16 points and 5-11 Jr. Corey Blackburn, Martin Ashford, and D. J. Adams chipped in with 13, 12, and 10 points respectively. 6-0 So. Pete Gifford came off the bench to lead Lafayette with 27 points including four of six from the three point line. Blake Miller and Darnell Dialls added 15 and 11 points respectively.
