Conclusion
Congratulations to the teams that claimed titles this weekend and to all the teams that participated in this fine event. The statistics mentioned here are unofficial and are just meant to be used as an indicator of the games. I collected the stats from the scoresheets and I apologize any errors or misspellings of names. There was a lot of talent on display this weekend. Many players not mentioned in the game recaps played well this weekend.
Que Christian, who is about 6-3 and plays for the 13-and-Under champion Central Kentucky Angels is a prime example. Christian rebounded well, played solid defense in the paint, and triggered several fast break opportunities with excellent outlet passing. Katy Cooke of the 14-and-Under champion Paris Stars suffered an ankle sprain and only got limited playing time this weekend. Cooke is an excellent three point shooter with a good understanding of the game.
Although we enjoy watching these young athletes, we must remember and give credit to the support staffs who allow the sport to survive and thrive. Parents and coaches spend a lot of time and money to keep these teams competing throughout the summer. Girls basketball continues to grow and credit must be given to these dedicated athletes and to their parents, coaches, and other supporters.
