Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup: 5-11 Sr. Laura Bell, 6-0 So. Anaris Sickles, 6-1 Jr. Shannon Novosel, 5-8 Jr. Lesley Server, and 5-8 So. Nikki Davis. Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans countered with 5-11 Sr. Kate Ulanowski, 5-8 Jr. Courtney Hall, 6-0 Sr. Katie Willinger, 5-7 So. Mallory Luckett, and 5-8 Sr. Laura Rather.
Mercy pulled out a 61-58 victory in a game that was tied 11 times and had eight lead changes. Lexington Catholic held their last lead at 55-54 but Mercy outscored them 7-3 down the stretch to take the victory. Mercy shot 30.6% from the field and 18 of 26 from the free throw line while Lexington Catholic shot 34.5% from the field and was only 13 of 24 from the charity stripe. Lexington Catholic pulled down 44 rebounds and turned the ball over 23 times while Mercy Academy pulled down 43 rebounds and were guilty of 19 turnovers.
Mercy was led in scoring by Courtney Hall with 14 points. 5-9 So. Emily Napier came off the bench to add nine points. Katie Willinger chipped in with seven points and pulled down nine rebounds. Lexington Catholic was led by Nikki Davis with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals. Shannon Novosel added 15 points and 10 rebounds while Anaris Sickles chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds. 5-6 Fr. Keyla Snowden came off the bench to add 12 points.
