Scott County (9-2) at Paul Dunbar (7-5)
Scott County coach Billy Hicks started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Jeremy Nettles, 6-8 Jr. Zach Van Guilder, 5-11 Sr. Nick Reed, 6-1 Jr. Troy Harris, and 6-1 Jr. Tyler Hicks. Dunbar coach Eddie Oakley countered with 6-3 Jr. Jason Azubuike, 6-2 Jr. Sekoe White, 6-2 Sr. Kenny Hale, 5-10 Sr. Jamie Adams, and 6-1 Sr. Marcus Conner.
Dunbar’s 6-1 So. Dustin Fox tallied two free throws with 2:24 left in the game to tie the score at 62, but Scott County scored the last seven points of the game to gain a 69-62 victory. Scott County maintained a lead throughout the game but could not pull away from a determined Dunbar squad. Scott County shot 53% from the field but was only 18 of 34 from the free throw line. Dunbar was cold from the field, only shooting 36%. They were 14 of 18 from the free throw line. They also lost three players: 6-4 Sr. Landry Buckner, Sekoe White, and Kenny Hale in the final period due to fouls.
Scott County was led tonight by Tyler Hicks with 23 points including 12 points in the final period. Jeremy Nettles added 16 points, with 14 of those points coming in the second half. 6-3 Jr. Alex Cassady came off the bench to give a good performance with nine points, all coming in the first half. Dunbar was led tonight by Kenny Hale and Jason Azubuike with 15 and 14 points respectively. Marcus Conner and Jamie Adams added nine points each.
