Rockcastle County (22-4) vs. Lexington Catholic (21-4)
Rockcastle County coach Chrysti Noble started the following lineup: 5-9 So. Heather Hammond, 5-6 Sr. Jessie Hayes, 5-11 Sr. Ashley Mink, 5-8 So. Tara Rowe, and 5-5 So. Johnna Abney. Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 6-0 Sr. Chelsea Chowning, 6-0 Fr. Anaris Sickles, 6-1 So. Shannon Novosel, 5-8 Jr. Megan Mendenhall, and 5-11 Sr. Sarah Schell.
Lexington Catholic led 29-24 at the half but the third quarter proved to be disastrous for Rockcastle County as they were outscored 19-4. Lexington Catholic used this spurt to take a 68-46 victory over the Lady Rockets. Lexington Catholic held a 47.2%-37% edge in field goal shooting. Lexington Catholic shot well from the three point line, connecting at a 42.9% (6 of 14) rate, while Rockcastle County could only manage 23.1% (three of 13) from beyond the arc. Lexington Catholic held a 31-28 rebound margin and scored 31 points off 23 Rockcastle County turnovers. Lexington Catholic committed 21 turnovers but Rockcastle County could only capitalize for seven points.
The victors were led by Chelsea Chowning with 16 points and seven rebounds. Sarah Schell and Anaris Sickles added 14 and 13 points respectively. 5-7 So. Lesley Server and Shannon Novosel each added 11 points, with Server connecting on three of four three point baskets. Megan Mendenhall did not crack the scoring column tonight but she pulled down four rebounds and dished out six assists. Rockcastle County was led by Johnna Abney with 14 points and six assists. Heather Hammond added 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Tara Rowe chipped in with 10 points. Jessie Hayes added eight points and recorded five steals.
