Newport Central Catholic coach Christie McDonald started the following lineup: 5-8 Jr. Tricia Bertke, 5-8 So. Jayme Thiem, 5-10 Sr. Heather Maudlin, 5-7 Jr. Jenny Prigge, and 5-11 Jr. Nicole Chiodi. Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 6-0 Sr. Chelsea Chowning, 6-0 Fr. Anaris Sickles, 6-1 So. Shannon Novosel, 5-8 Jr. Megan Mendenhall, and 5-11 Sr. Sarah Schell.
Lexington Catholic led at the end of three quarters 59-30 until Newport Central Catholic cut the lead in the final quarter to the final score of 72-56. Lexington Catholic scored 27 points off 22 Newport Central Catholic turnovers. Lexington Catholic held a 49.2%-42.2% edge in field goal shooting. The victors were led by Chelsea Chowning with 24 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and seven steals. Shannon Novosel added 16 points and six rebounds. Newport Central Catholic was led by Nicole Chiodi with 18 points and five rebounds. Jayme Thiem and Heather Maudlin added 11 and 10 points respectively.
