Mercy Academy (10-5) at Louisville Sacred Heart (14-1)
Mercy Academy coach Mark Evans started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Erica Hardy, 5-7 Jr. Ashley Mannel, 6-0 Jr. Katie Willinger, 5-7 Sr. Sarah Darnell, and 5-5 Sr. Lauren Parrish. Sacred Heart coach Donna Moir countered with 5-11 Sr. Becca Kopple, 5-10 So. Taylor Kopple, 6-3 Jr. Crystal Kelly, 5-6 Jr. Connie Ferch, and 5-7 So. Carly Ormerod.
Carly Ormerod connected on 11 of 12 free throws including seven of eight down the stretch to allow Sacred Heart to hold off a determined Mercy Academy squad by a score of 65-61. Sacred Heart Academy held a 45.7%-34.3% edge in field goal shooting and connected on 23 of 32 free throws while Mercy only visited the charity stripe 14 times, connecting on nine shots. Mercy scored 25 points on 24 Sacred Heart turnovers and held a 42-39 edge in rebounding. Mercy also had an 18-0 advantage from the three point line.
Sacred Heart was led today by Carly Ormerod 17 points and four steals. Crystal Kelly added 13 points, 13 rebounds, and seven blocked shots. Becca Kopple added 12 points and 11 rebounds. Taylor Kopple chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Mercy was led by Erica Hardy with 17 points and six rebounds. Katie Willinger added 11 points, 16 rebounds, and four steals. Lauren Parrish added 11 points. Both teams were missing key players as Sacred Heart has lost 5-7 Sr. Krisha Byron for the season with a knee injury, and Mercy was without the services of 5-7 Jr. Laura Rather and 5-9 Sr. Brittany Kittell due to injury/illness.
