Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup for the No. 2 ranked Lady Knights: 6-0 Sr. Chelsea Chowning, 5-8 Jr. Megan Mendenhall, 6-0 Fr. Anaris Sickles, 5-7 So. Lesley Server, and 5-11 Sr. Sarah Schell. Wayne County coach Tim Pyles countered with 5-11 So. Latoyia Green, 5-11 So. Ashley Bell, 6-0 Sr. Claudia Baker, 5-7 Jr. Kenita Ball, and 5-5 Sr. Trisha Gothrup.
Lexington Catholic led 40-21 midway through the third quarter, then survived a late rally in which Wayne County closed the gap to 58-53 with 44 seconds remaining in the game. Lexington Catholic scored the final four points of the game to make the final score 62-53. Lexington Catholic shot 45.8% from the field, was 14 of 19 from the free throw line, and pulled down 30 rebounds. Wayne County shot 39.5% from the field, was 19 of 30 from the charity stripe, and pulled down 28 rebounds.
Lexington Catholic was led tonight by Chelsea Chowning with 26 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Sarah Schell added 13 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Lesley Server added 11 points, including three three point baskets. Ashley Bell led Wayne County with 20 points and five rebounds. Claudia Baker added 16 points and seven rebounds.
