Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd started the following lineup: 6-0 Sr. Chelsea Chowning, 5-8 Jr. Megan Mendenhall, 6-1 So. Shannon Novosel, 5-7 Jr. Lesley Server, and 5-11 Sr. Sarah Schell. Jackson County coach Greg Parrett countered with 5-8 So. Brittany Bingham, 5-8 Sr. Jenna Lakes, 6-6 Jr. Sarah Elliott, 5-3 Jr. Whitney Moore, and 5-4 Sr. Jeanenna Hignite.
Lexington Catholic trailed Jackson County by 14 in the final quarter before rallying behind three three-pointers by 5-7 Sr. Regina Carney to eventually tie the game and force overtime. Lexington Catholic outscored Jackson County 7-4 in overtime to earn a 51-48 victory. Neither team could get on track in the first half as Jackson County led 16-9 at halftime. Jackson County held a 39.5%-34% edge in field goal shooting and outrebounded Lexington Catholic 41-26. Lexington Catholic scored 20 points off 29 Jackson County turnovers.
Lexington Catholic was led tonight by Chelsea Chowning with 18 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Sarah Schell added 11 points, seven assists, and four steals. Regina Carney, Lexington Catholic’s inspirational leader who has played all season with a torn ACL, added nine key points in the final period. Jackson County was led by Sarah Elliott with 19 points, 16 rebounds, and five blocked shots. Brittany Bingham also tallied 19 points.
