Henry Clay coach Kirk Chiles started the following lineup: 6-1 So. Bryan Turnage, 6-2 Jr. Aubrey White, 6-9 Sr. John Patterson, 6-2 Sr. Joe Harden, and 5-10 Sr. Lamont Campbell. Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus, Jr. countered with 6-4 Jr. Matt Cornett, 6-0 Jr. Chris Stunson, 6-7 Sr. Bret Alexander, 6-0 Sr. Matt Gayheart, and 6-5 Jr. Shawn Ballard.
Henry Clay’s Lamont Campbell hit a pair of free throws with two seconds remaining to give the Blue Devils a 70-68 victory over Madison Central. Both teams shot well from the field with Henry Clay shooting 55.6% and Madison Central connecting at a 54.2% rate. Madison Central stayed in the game with some outstanding three-point shooting, connecting on 11 of 24 shots. Madison Central outscored Henry Clay 33-6 from the three point line. Henry Clay scored 20 points off 20 Madison Central turnovers, while Madison Central scored 23 points off 18 Henry Clay turnovers. Henry Clay held a 28-22 edge in rebounding.
Henry Clay was led tonight by Joe Harden with 20 points. Lamont Campbell added 18 points, six assists, and recorded five steals. Aubrey White chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds. Madison Central was led by Shawn Ballard with 27 points including three three-point baskets. 6-3 Jr. Josh Winkler added 14 points including four three-point goals. 6-2 Jr. Brad Cain and Matt Cornett added 11 and 10 points respectively.
