Notre Dame Academy coach Cheryl Darpel started the following lineup: 5-9 Sr. Lauren Smith, 5-11 Jr. Jessica Albanese, 5-9 Sr. Jennifer Witte, 5-9 Sr. Stephanie Hornsby, and 5-9 Sr. Marquise Hanser. Lexington Catholic coach Greg Todd countered with 6-0 Sr. Chelsea Chowning, 5-7 Jr. Megan Mendenhall, 6-1 So. Shannon Novosel, 5-11 Sr. Sarah Schell, and 5-7 Fr. Nikki Davis.
Lexington Catholic broke open a close game in the third quarter on their way to a 58-37 victory over Notre Dame. Catholic held a 23-20 advantage late in the first half when 5-7 So. Lesley Server connected on a three point bomb to give the Lady Knights a 26-20 lead at the half. Lexington Catholic increased the margin to 41-29 at the end of the third period and outscored the Pandas 17-8 in the final period to make the final score 58-37. Lexington Catholic held a 44-31% margin from the field and Notre Dame was guilty of 26 turnovers.
The victors were led tonight by Chelsea Chowning with 13 points and nine rebounds. Shannon Novosel added 11 points and six rebounds. Sarah Schell, as usual filled the stat line with 10 points, seven assists, and recorded seven steals. Notre Dame was led by a very hardworking Jessica Albanese with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Marquise Hanser added 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Both teams have been hit with the injury bug as Lexington Catholic's Regina Carney and Notre Dame's Kirsten Leininger missed the game due to ACL injuries.
